Tour of Poland??

ya right because a tour of poland win makes a rider career. . . he wants classics and stages in GT's not eleventh tier stage races no1 cares about. . .

it is simply not worth the time and effort focusing on his itt for chance of winning something that even isn't that meaningfull when he could be focusing on more important stuff

Next stop Eneco Tour or possibly the esteemed Tour of Beijing. He'll make a GC rider yet. ;)

Plus, did the TdP even have a ITT? As far as I remember, neither that or Sardegna (the 2 stage races he's won) have had one. Agreed that there's plenty of chance for him to pick up 'bonus' GC wins without having to focus on ITT (but don't agree that TdP is 'eleventh tier', that's a bit harsh - maybe if you were talking about Beijing ;) )

edit: drat, 10 seconds late with the Beijing bashing

What tier is Tour of Portugal then?

Im amazed someone on this forum can be so ignorant as to think there are races no one cares about.

Takashi Miyazawa was crying after winning a stage at the Tour of Taiwan. An overall at a World Tour race with a 70 year history is a huge deal.

what is incredible is that Poels did not put more time on Meyer on the climbs (partially due to the good performance of Meyer)

He had a 52 seconds deficit before. I call it pretty huge to make up more than that.
Meyer climbed better than ever as well so that only adds to Poels accomplishment

exactly. those are mostly the ignorant fans who doesnt value races like that, most riders seem to care a great deal, especially young or "mediocre" riders
