Well I am an Evans fan but I have to be realistic.

I think after this first TT is done we will be talking about how many minutes Wiggans is going to win this years Tour by. Based on how he has performed all year he should put some damaging time into all GC rivals, and do the same again in the final TT.

Not that I think Cadel is riding poorly... he looks in top shape to me but Wiggans just seems on an incredible run of form. I expect Evans to put in a good time but still lose close to a minute.

However, if by some chance Evans should happen to lose only a handful of seconds, or better yet, gain some time, then he will win the Tour. Wiggans will start to panic and you won't shake Cadel off once he has a hold.

I hope Evans can hang in there and not lose too much time. His DS sounds confident. This is probably the critical stage for Evans. If he is beaten badly in this, what will happen in the longer TT ?

Wiggins will destroy all the other GC contenders and this race will become even a bigger snooze-party than it already has been, with a super strong SKy team controlling everything for a rider who will only ride defensively in the mountains. My only hope is that Cadel and Nibali can hurt Wiggins and Sky on some descents but wont be enough to threaten him for the overall. Not with a team that strong.

Really cant wait for the Vuelta now where there is bound to be some real firework and the race will be less controlled (Saxo and RSNT wont be nearly as strong as Sky, not at all).

PS: I know its bad sportsmanship and I have nothing against Wiggins but for the sake of the race I hope Wiggins has a few flats today.

Gustav Larsson starting 10:09 already. His big aim this year is the TT in the Olympics (Silver in 2008). He has been very quiet so far in the tour and dropped early yesterday. My guess is that he has been waiting for todays TT and is ready to go full blast - hoping for a good result indicating that he will be ready for the Olympics. So, a top 10 time by Larsson wouln't surprise me.

I'm not sure Evans will lose much time at all - not even 30 seconds. He seems to be in great shape and last year he came 2nd in the Grenoble TT over 43k, just 7 seconds behind Martin. Sure, that TT was in the third week when fatigue play a crucial role, but still, it is an indication of what Evans can do when it really counts.

Farrar might miss the time limit today: +2.12 to Feillu after 16.5k!

Edit: Farrar stepped it up, "just" +2.36 to Feillu after 2nd time check.

Time limit is 25% over the winners time...I'd be very surprised if anybody got bounced with that generous a time cut. (that'll probably be somewhere around 15 minutes behind the winner)

Cancellara, Wiggins, Larsson in view to top 3.

Martin, Evans, Rogers, Froome, Menchov, Kloden then Zubeldia.

I think Martin will recuperate and go well but not good enough to podium. Larsson has not done anything this TDF but i also expect him to go well ( based on P-N ). I actually think Wiggins will go well but Cancellara will pip him and get the win. Evans i hope will also rise to the occasion and do a good ITT- hopefully only losing 20-40 seconds to Wiggins.

Chavanel, Westra, Levi, Taaramae, Velits, Monfort and a few others could have also been in my top 10 but i think a lot of people are tired.

15mins - that means only Fabian and Wiggins will be left in the race after this stage :D

Katusha will also try control it for JROD as well. Moreno alone is a good enough train.
RSNT are quite a strong team if i must say. Some of their TDF riders ( Cancellara, maybe Monfort ) will go and Zaugg/ Thomas R could feature.

Langevald taking it easy today, +1.52 to Larsson. Thought he would go for it but apparently not.

What's Feillu doing? He has been dominating the Lanterne Rouge classification until now! I think he might lose that position today. He had better hope for hors delai from Tyler.:)

Anyone knows if Mark Cavendish will retire after this stage to prepare for the olympic games? I`m kinda disappointed with his form so far
