Some of you are being too optimistic about Contador's perfomance in La Vuelta, but you have to count on the psychological aspect and the lack of competition. I think Contador is mentally strong , we saw in TDF 2009, but a three weeks competition is also about head not just legs.

Maybe, but we all know HOW he jumps into form, even having the lack of racing practice. Furthermore, based on the last season, any passed earlier gt dilutes them strongly. As I see, only Anton will go the Vuelta, being fresh.

I mean the date of the ban. It wouldn't have been unreasonable to see his ban end on the 24th of August.

But I am not surprised to see you get all dramatic.

Obviously I was ironic, sorry I didn't get your point.

No, we don't. Some things changed for him recently ;-)

Much will depend on his team. Without the race practice, he might need even more protection when cruising with the peloton. Even at his prime, AC did not seem to be a good peloton rider with all his crashes and echelon-problems within the last few years at the tour.

I don't expect the verbier fireworks either, but margin of safety is still very big, compared to suсh versatile all-rounders, like Basso and Anton.

Enlighten me? Last year he crashed a few times, but he clearly wasn't at his best anymore after a hard Giro.

It all will depend (i) on who lines up at the start and )ii) if - as often in the Vuelta - against a virtually nonexistent competition like his 2011-Giro

Sigh not this again. You might want to take a look at who was at the giro rather than just assume the competition was weak.

It was strong by the names, but mediocre by competition. Do you accept this democratic formulation?)

I try to be consistent and not to lose thread of objectivity, unlike some other guys, who like to treat everything in favor of Contador, whatever happens between these 2. Weak Contador - Andy needs Contador. Strong Contador - Andy needs Contador, no Contador - Andy would better not go the Tour. Perfect! ;)

If you want to know my point about the Vuelta, I'm looking forward to it. I wonder if the gap between Contador and 2nd will be sporting exceptionally (4-5 min) or spanish cycling brotherhood will decide to support him additionally, by losing much more.

You can't lose what you've never had. :) If you are still whining about Andy not being able to shift his bike, that's definitely consistent but certainly not objective. I'd encourage you and definitely Andy, to drop it, thank the manufacturer of the contaminated supplement for his TdF victory and move on.

P.S. Nice slam on Spanish Cycling as whole! :p

I didn't expect any other answer. :) To be sure, I have to divinize to be objective or at least not to argue with those who divinize. I didn't whine, just tried to compare 2 fairly different situations. Good luck in glorification this saint crystally honest guy.
