Disappointing ride by AC, guess the break from racing and too much mountain training is showing, but still worrying this clause to the Tour, hope we won’t be watching another tour with Sky train and no attacks.

this is only the dauphine
by the way alberto looked so shiity on the bike all over the place well because he didn't have any power on the legs to push the big gears. that's what happen when you can't ,you look ugly and ridiculous

both froomey and richie seem at around 85%, away from their best level.
valverde, alberto, purito, europcar and andy schleck will all put sky in the tour under immense pressure you will see.

EBH overtook him at 11km and he spent the entire rest of it tucked in his slipstream...
Probably the worst case of wheelsucking I've seen in a ITT, he wasn't even 1 second behind EBH. They passed the 2nd time check simultaneously. So there was no gap between them. At all.

Would be outrageous if he doesn't get thrown out of the race, he gained like 3 minutes by blatant cheating.

Ye it was really weird that they allowed it all that time. He needs to be thrown out.

““I think it was obvious for everyone that Alberto was not at his normal high level today. He had a feeling of lack of energy and it seems like he had an off-day at a very unfortunate time and that is significantly crucial on a time trial like this . Now, it looks more than difficult in terms of targeting a top overall result but we'll continue our preparations for the Tour. Naturally, we hope that Alberto will back at his best tomorrow when it' goes down again among the favourites on the uphill finish,” said Saxo-Tinkoff's DS, Philippe Mauduit after today's time trial.

I watched the TT for a while and noticed

1) the SKY car was really very very close behind PORTE. Anybody has an idea how much the rider is helped by such a configuration? I would think it might be substantial.

2) Contador seemed to be spinning his legs a lot, not really pushing a big gear, but I didn't count his rpm.

.

I wasn't paying attention to that but it does give an advantage to have a rider on your wheel (know it sounds weird but it does), so ye it would give an advantage, but I think the car would have to be really close for that. But tbh Porte wasn't doing that great.

Team Saxo FB page: "Alberto Contador had a severe off-day in Criterium du Dauphiné and lost contact with his rivals in the GC. Hopefully, our Spanish rider feels better on tomorrow's mountain stage."

Not often did they write something like this in such an open manner.

He seems to have off-days at unfortunate times each time:rolleyes:

So Mick Rogers and Serghio Paulhino turned in better ITT performances than Contador. I guess the team rides for Rogers tomorrow.:D

Rogers is climbing quite well, since California. And the climbs that are going to come are not so steep. So that can be a possibility.

Probably didn't matter since he wasn't in contention for anything.

He may end up in the top 10 overall because of this ITT performance - 12th overall at the moment.

Alberto in the Vuelta was under-power in the mountains v. JRod.
He could only beat J.Rod by turning a flattish stage into a type of ITT.
So the new post-ban Contador can do TT kinda.

It's the mountains that he's yet to prove.

So if his TT is gone we could be in trouble - bar the sandbagging hope. :(

Come on down Andy!

But was he in EBH's wheel? If he was on the other side of the road, that's allowed.

It's how Gustav Larsson got a medal at the Worlds. Being passed by Cancellara, and then not losing any further time.

Dani Navarro is actually a climber, so he's very much in contention. Might even make the podium overall.

Hoping on andy, where has cycling come to? What's next? Hope on fuglsang?

A combined EARLY attack off andy and alberto, it might really happen, let's hope.
