There was something possible. In the beginning hard pace then maybe.

Nibali will have to do stuff like that if he wants to have a chance in winning this.

Attacking from 70 km won't work against the sky train.
Attacking a train in a 5% climb, with 7 kms of false flat after it, is not a chance.
It seems Wiggo lost 17'' so Nibali delivered after all :D

These days colombians tend to be conservative while racing. Henao is colombian and his team often has him riding on a short leash. And that's it :D
There is not much that Henao can do about it. He is being paid to help Wiggins and that's it.

Nibali already lost 2 chances. How many left?

The chance for two pointless attacks? If yesterday's stage had today's weather you would have seen an attack from him.

Sky have already deleted this in embarassment -

Paolini (KAT) hangs on to the maglia rosa while Uran and Wiggins should retain their places in the top three overall. #Giro

WHAT??? He lost 17 sec?

Ok never mind me being an idiot. Nibali took his chance today :D

Not really : if wiggins wasn't feeling well , they could have taken more time by riding more aggresively .

Then again you might be wondering, maybe wiggins wasn't so good today. Maybe something happened though, flat tire orso.

what a great etapa! :)

Was it a flat tire? If so ok then.

But if Wiggins was really bad. Then yea nibali might have lost a big chance today.

How many people thought that what Contador did at fuente de was smart btw?

Being smart is not always the answer :D

How can you be a paid cycling commentator (primarily) and have no clue of the existence of Battaglin? Come on.

I kept wondering the same thing... he didn't even recognise Ventoso... ffs, he's wearing a unique jersey and has been wearing it for almost a year!

You guys are very sensitive to this issue I think. My point was that colombians aren't as attacking riders as people claim them to be in this forum.
Henao was just an example; I said it myself his team keeps him on a tight leash. I would like to see how he would do in some other team.

I'm not watching the race but I don't believe you guys when you say chaplaud is wheelsucking. Ryo said Colombians always attack, never wheeluck and no Colombian would ever ride like that pathetic leipheimer who deserves to censored a painful censored.

Honestly, I wouldn't call that wheelsucking at all as Di Luca was much stronger. Chal took several pulls but they were not as long as Di Lucas. It was obvious he was just hanging on most of the time and had to chase back on to the wheel a few times. In the end Di Luca simply rode him off the wheel when the group was getting close.

I find it hard to believe that Wiggins lost that much time unless it was a mechanical, or if he lost it deliberately due to Sky struggling with doing too much work?

Did you see the group coming in? That was a very tired group of riders... Pretty sure this was a taxing stage on everyone, nibbles included. He wouldn't have been able to ride away from the peloton anyway, he isn't canc.

Insane expectations of riders.

you can say many things after the stage, but during the stage who knows? maybe W played his poker face very well. But for sure after today the other big favorites will smell the blood. Fantastic racing will be ahead of us.

If Di Luca only had a companion who was just a bit stronger than Chalapud, he would have made it. Heroic ride.
