Cav kicked too early, at 250m. If he waits 50m longer, he probably gets 2nd.

He kicked early coz he knew he couldnt win by sitting in the wheels. He's not too bothered about getting 2nd place

Probably, though this was never gonna work and he now misses out on some important points for green. But understandable he tried.

Well done, Sagi. Bring the jersey home. Green suits you. ;)

To tell the truth I did not expect any podium in flat sprint stages. I am impressed.

Yeah. He'll probably be disappointed not to have a stage win (and therefore hungry), but I think he's done better relative to expectations than any of the other contenders. At least relative to my expectations: I was expecting him to come in somewhere around 5th or 6th in the full-field sprints.

He went down and after being examined by doctor got back on his bike and just rode in easy. Hopefully he doesn't have any lasting injuries, but whatever hopes of a high GC he had are gone now.

Left my 2013/14 contract on the road, 12km to the finish. Not allowed to start tomorrow. Big thanks to #tdf medical team. Amazing people

Ok.. we should really keep up an injury/out list of top 10 gc contenders.
VDB, Brajkovic out, some other top 10 contenders are already behind in time, some favorites like Contador, Rodriguez, Quintana, Mollema all had falls already.

I wonder what the first mt stage will deliver.. Froome had a fall in the neutralization of stage 1, but other then that ofcourse no bad luck for him personally, although Sky already had their share.

Wow, Astana seems to be collapsing here.

I will now cheer for Fuglsang in this race, he might need it.

Also a great performance and response from Greipel and his Lotto team. Clean points sweep iirc.

Greipel shuts up Cav fanboys as expected. Sagan's racking up more points. The green jersey is between these two, as I predicted few weeks ago.

Quintana crashed 3 times today and hurt his knee. Costa also crashed with cavendish and a few others with about 30k to go and hit his right knee pretty hard again.

His diary today looked fairly pessimist i must say. :(
