2007? 2010? By the way I believe Alberto is more talented but that could be just me.

Who in 2007 and 2010? Otherwise i'd have to search for time gaps on the internet because i can't remember off the top of my head.

GC:
GBR 1 FROOME, Christopher (SKY PROCYCLING) 20:04:13
ESP 2 CONTADOR VELASCO, Alberto (SAXO-TINKOFF) + 27
AUS 3 EVANS, Cadel (BMC RACING TEAM) + 39
ESP 4 RODRIGUEZ OLIVER, Joaquin (KATUSHA) + 50
ITA 5 NOCENTINI, Rinaldo (AG2R LA MONDIALE) + 1:13
SUI 6 TSCHOPP, Johann (IAM CYCLING)
ITA 7 NIBALI, Vincenzo (ASTANA) + 1:19
FRA 8 ELISSONDE, Kenny (FDJ) + 1:34
ITA 9 POZZOVIVO, Domenico (AG2R LA MONDIALE) + 1:44
FRA 10 BOUET, Maxime (AG2R LA MONDIALE) + 2:00

I see no possibilities for GC action.

Goss, Van Hummel and Kittel to fight for the scraps perhaps. Alternatively a large break could go on the first or second little ramp.

alberto to unleash hell on legendary hil qurayyat

I see what you mean but i was thinking more along the lines of the fact there are so many danger men as opposed to just 2 riders duking it out.

Chicken yes but he was only a 3/4 tour factor and Andy can't TT. So will always get beaten.

Alberto and Froome can both climb and TT and this could go on for Years :)

oh please no that would be the end of me  pretty funny, everyone is all excited because we will see "epic battles" and I'm just hoping for a miracle so Alberto can drop Froome

I want Epic battles followed by Froome tiring badly and al Purito cracking on a Fuente De :) The 3rd week of Alberto attacks will finally do him in, but it will be an epic race.

Every Grand Champion needs a worthy opponent and at last one has appeared.

Damn, missed that. Thats the end of Kittel. Sagan gone, perhaps Cancellara long range or Breschel/Styby/Gallopin. Who else?

Nothing wrong with the Oman parcours,

Yes.. Attacks after attacks until Froome was isolated . Alberto attacked on the climb, made little gaps..he attacked on the flat and forced Froom to lead into the sprint which he almost won when I looked at the picture. Alberto is taking measure of his competition. Foome comes out in front, especially with the bonuses but I am confident that this is only the beginning of their fight

Exactly. That is what has to be done to derail the Sky train. It wasn't the train that reeled in Contador's attacks as far what I understand from the posts here and the cn race report. Make the Sky leader do the work of bringing back the attacks without the benefit of his team's protection.

Although hang on, i'll take it back. do the maths based on the profile

looks about 500 meters long and starts at just about 25 metres to 75 so a difference of 50...

so for arguments sake, 500 metres at 10% but with 3 kilometers thereafter to go.

fast moving peleton will counteract anything but a sprint finish but would Kittel and Argos have sufficient time to get back on?

Predictions?? My Top 5

1. Goss
2. Degenkolb
3. Bouhanni
4. Gallopin
5. Boonen

That's fine, as long as the guy you are making work isn't the strongest in the race. If he is all you are doing it tiring yourself out and setting it up for someone else. That tactic may work in here, but I think at the Tour Berto is going to have to make an attack stick.

but in the Tour Saxo can derail the train and then Alberto can attack

Seems to me that Conty is really trying to win this race but obviously doesn't have it.

Who's saying he's not trying to win the race? That much is quite obvious. Makes for great racing. Froome is just stronger at this point.
