well wiggo tries to win giro-tour double, he can't be here in form.

Exactly. It's diffrent from last year when he 'had a peak' at PN and then a peak a Tour.

This year he wants to peak in May and try to be the best he can be in July.

That obivosuly means he shouldn't do that well in early races.

Where was Wiggins? Lack of shape or not willing to ride full just for helping Froome?

Wiggins was a factor in Algarve mid February ´12, this year he isn´t yet.

This year he's doing the pulling for Froome and sacrificing his own chances at placing anywhere lol this is common sense since Froome is the designated team leader

And he did show to be more explosive. Froome returned on the descent.
Guess Nibali decided to take the day off. :(

He's just being Sir Brat. Bet he's not riding the Tour.

Sir Wiggo is headed for a training camp. He will be brutal in the Giro. Nabali better step up.

returned on the descent and out sprinted a rider that is supposed to be more explosive and have a bigger kick.

Sometimes it seems people here are desperate and clutching at straws i'm seeing a bit of Stolkholm Syndrome here :)
You're deliberately leaving out the last kilometer attack that Contador did, after which he still almost beat Froome in the sprint?

Well whatever happened worked in Sky's favour by the look of it Conty had worn himself right out.... He still lost to Froome where he should have won since Contador is far more explosive than Chris Froome.
Alberto does not look worn out to me if you observe the race carefully. There was limited possibilities today and he explored them all almost taking Froome in the sprint in the end. I can imagine a different ending if the course was longer and more demanding. How many attacks like that can the competition sustain?

Many people just considered Froome unexplosive and thought the train will defend him to the bitter end.

As usual some people are already predicting grand tour results on the basis of the Tour of Oman. As usual in these early season events, class compensates for fitness. Look at the top four riders on the overall. They are competitive in any race they contest.

Uphill Rodriguez has a very good sprint but I don't rate him on a flat road sprint on stage where there has been some climbing.

Seems to me that Conty is really trying to win this race but obviously doesn't have it.

The actual sprint in the end today doesn't mean that much as the time bonuses would make no difference to the gc overall (maybe some psychological effects). the key thing from the day is that froome was again able to get back to contador after several attacks

And Froome doesn't?

Well let's just say it's pretty hard to suck more in a sprint than Alberto. You're going on and on about Froome beating Alberto, yes indeed he did. It's amazing that Alberto even came close. Anyone on this forum would predict a 1 Purito 2 Froome 3 Alberto order out of those three. Well except maybe you

So what your saying is explosive power doesn't translate to flattish sprinting at all?

an explosive uphill rider isn't necessarily a good sprinter on the flat and the other way around.

Explosive power on climbs =/= Explosive power on flats. That is what I am saying. Weight of the rider and power to weight ratio comes into consideration in an uphill sprint at the end of a climb or steep hill. There are different factors in a flat sprint.

Trying to be partial here and look at the bigger picture while everyone is in love with Contador and being completely biased.

I think the Tour mountain stages will be similar to 2007:

2007: Rasmussen-Contador
2013: Froome-Contador

God I hope with another outcome though, don't want to see Alberto getting dropped by Froome

And by this logic Contador should have beaten Froome Since Conty is far more heavier than Froome i'll admit Purito should have dusted them both but Contador is supposed to be making a point this season i can't stress that enough.
