When you watch the Pantani show it seems like he rides on an almost flat parcours while the others are climbing.

Yes. It's almost as if the other riders were worse off when Pantani flatted, because they were then forced to attack off the front knowing he was going to chase them down with double panache. At about the 11 minute mark, they're all looking over their shoulders thinking where is he?

I don't understand, Evans never held the yellow that year, and therefore never controlled the race and made it boring, as you suggest.

Maybe you didn´t watch?
AC and the Schlecks looked hard at each other while riding backwards, while Evans was waiting behind watching.
Not gonna work anymore. Riders attack again, plus add in that Evans can´t wait for help from a late flat long ITT. I love it. Cowards ain´t win anymore.

Pirazzi, Scarponi, Landa, Moreno all over 5 minutes down on Stage 13. Gonna see them active to try for a stage win soon for sure.

Why did they sit up?

lots of folks rating pozzovivo over evans. pv must have improved a lot in the last month whereas evans peaked in trentino. is that the thinking?

i think evans will take some time out of uran tomorrow. maybe not everything but i think he will get some back.

More to do with the fact that all we've seen so far is a Pozzo attack whereas Evans hasn't done anything of note. AG2R have also rode very strong on the front in a couple of stages earlier in the Giro so the doctor must be feeling strong.

Bouhanni will of course take this!!!... wait? Whats wrong with me.

Of course Gesink will!

Honestly. It's really hard to tell. After the TT Uran would be a natural choice if there'd be a favorites clash up the mountain. But having said that, this makes it unlikely.

I think a breakaway will take it. Who could triumph in that fashion I have no educated guess what so ever. It will be De Gendt though. ;)

there haven't been so many mtfs so far. pozzovivo put everyone on notice that he's a contender here by putting time into everyone on the one mtf.

cadel has always been pretty shrewd about the attacks he chases. that was not one he was super concerned about. he was more worried about uran and quintana. but pozzo now will be marked. he's strong enough and close enough on time that all the faves will have to defend against anything he does, especially uran.

i expect pozzo to factor in the finale tomorrow. all i'm saying is that it's not obvious from that one attack that pv is stronger than cadel. he also gapped quintana and uran but people aren't saying that he is better than them right now.

Scarponi, for one, is in a bad way.

any idea if it will be the same with tuesday's stage? that one really deserves whole stage broadcast

No, it's not.
Not whole, but more than the last 3 hour slot.
Exactly when it'll go live, I don't know
Only on Rai Sport 2, though, not Eurosport etc.
Then there's the weather.
White, fluffy stuff forecast for the Stelvio again.

The last one with him should be Marco Velo whe he was still a climber, in his later years he was a leadout man for Zabel and Petacchi at Milram. Inbetween he was also a descent time trialist.

That sounds like an awfully narrow specialisation :p

80% of the peloton are idiots. ;)

i think we can let 3 stages-- a flat TT, the first stge and the last stage for the idiots.

18 stages with 9 of them MTFs and two MTTs(stage 2 and stage 20) should look beautiful.

I think breakaway will take it but none of these 4

Pirazzi-in break for the mountain jersey, not likely to win (wasting energy Pirazzi style:D)
Scarponi - really bad shape - health wise and form wise
Landa - has to help Aru,they cant risk that he will be alone in a multi-mountins stage
Moreno- was in break before, not seems in form, and the finish doesnt favor him against other climbers

I like the prediction of Niemec, but dont know exactly how he feels (bruises etc.);)(?)

Sacrponi should leave the race and focus on something else. Useless here. In fact he may take focus away from Aru.

Scarponi could a win a stage in the third week if he recovers from his injuries.
And for a team that has won very little thus far this season it would be much needed.

those changes are interesting and show how weight and training can make you what type of rider you are rather than genetics. Of course they can play a part too
