To be fair, I don't fully understand the yellow jersey dynamics. It seems more driven by tradition than optimal tactics ("if you've got the yellow jersey you need to defend!")

No yellow jersey -> no podium ceremony + no antidoping control + no interview in the press room -> get to hotel 2 hours earlier. It's that simple.

Was he injured or something like that? Because dropping out so soon on the first real mountain stage is a bit embarassing

Was actually in the Schleck crash on the London stage a week ago, dont know if he had been struggling since then. Was last overall before today's stage. Cheng is the new lanterne rouge
