Seconds are important, that simple. Every second counts. You never know what happens.

And once again this all can be resolved so easily, cycling is stuck in the past like always.

Contador and Urán has fallen but they have almost nothing. But maybe a domestique of the best teams? Except Etixx they were very lucky so far...

If you hang back behind the peloton, that's about 15 seconds, as the peloton takes at least 10 seconds to cross the line. If you lose 15 seconds on 7 or 8 stages, that's in the region of 4 minutes - they all stack up

I don't think AC will abandon. He certainly looked hurt at the podium, but he looked ok getting on and off his bike after the crash.

1. Giro organisers for having a non-straight barrier?
2. Colli for taking too many risks?
3. Ruffoni for drifting from his line?
4. One or more spectators (but for what exactly?)

Shades of grey.
You don't need to roll in right at the end of the peloton, but why not somewhere around 50th-60th? How many sprint stages would end up in a time loss then? As I said, the risk-reward of being so close to the front during a sprint just seems off. It wouldn't take that much time to actually calculate it reasonably accurately based on past GTs.

At the begining is normal you have some problems and take care about any hit, but he is ok to ride and to sleep tonight

Cyclists in general for crashing nearly every stage. Every time it's the same: organizer this, spectator that, lone wolf such, idiot the other way. But, crashes near the finish in cycling are no isolated incident, they're commonplace (in fact I wouldn't be surprised if big races with flat finishes feature a large crash more than 50% of the time). It's an attitude in the peloton, cyclists need to fix themselves.

Contador didn't look okay. He was obviously in pain, you could see that in his face before he went on the podium. Worst case scenario is Contador DNF, and do a Tour-Vuelta with Valverde and Quintana.

Kreuziger would be a contender for the last spot on the podium, and we still have to see if Porte can keep going at a high level for three weeks. Aru will be solid.
