Has the important question as to who is going to lead BMC, at the Dauphine and the Tour later, been settled yet?

edt: Ah, Teejay not doing the Dauphine. Wise move, Lil' Richie would''ve destroyed him. There's at least one Ax3/PSM performance in Porte most years. It might manifest itself at the Dauphine

Cliche answer: Race during the tour will decide it.

The wall like prologue has Rodriguez written on it but the Rodriguez seen in the spring it's a shadow of the rider he was so i think he can't win it.
I put my money on Pinot, he could also win the whole race.

I'm curious to see what Alaphilippe can do with a way far stronger climbing field than California one, on Gibraltrar Road was impressive in the last km but the field was very poor.

alaphilippe is a great bet for the prologue.
I'm not so sure if this climb isn't too long for him. For me it looks more like Valdepeñas de Jaén so i won't be suprised if any of the top GC would win it. I'm unsure of the surface because from satelites it looks like a bad asphalt and later a sterrato road. If there were no medernizations made then it could be relevant.

It will be a short and explosive MTT, Pinot is a diesel and i don't think it suits him. Les Gets is a climb quite similar to that of Pais Vasco where Contador(and Quintana) destroyed the field. I expect an encore with smaller gaps

The TV broadcast showed only Pello Bilbao, that was hilarious. :p

To do well in this prologue a rider needs to be very good time trialist besides being explosive climber.
So, I'm not sure it's Purito's cup of tea. On the other hand, Alaphilippe might upset the favourites.
And I have to notice that these ASO's uphill time trials are beautiful for effort engineering. Especially the one at Tour. I bet Kerrison's having fun combining watts, cadences and heartbeats by the ascent sectors. This one at the Dauphine is more simple to extrapolate. A simple positively sped up curve should do the work.

I don't buy the 'need to be a very good time trialist'. It will largely come down to who is the best and most explosive climber, not time trial skills. It is an advantage to be able to measure your effort as you do in regular time trials, but if you don't have the legs needed, its of no importance who is the best time trialist.

When Purito has done the Tour, his Dauphine-performances have been very underwhelming. His 2011-performance was largely due to riding the Giro and Vuelta, not the Tour. No way he will win if he doesn't take another approach which he most certainly won't considering his 3 biggest goals are ahead of him - Tour, Olympics and Vuelta.

Alaphilippe could be a very exciting dark horse, but I think this will be the highly anticipated Contador/Froome matchup. Im interested what the bookmakers have to say.

It certainly is a tt where climbing skills dominate, but climbing shoulder to shoulder with rivals and against the clock (yourself) differs. The length of this particular tt goes in favour of climbers, as well, but I'd never put money on a climber who's never done a decent tt in his career. It's about spinning, not punching.

I have to agree with you, although Nirvana's proposition was seducing: no time to get going, brutal, explosive, if Tibopino gets a top-5 and loses less than 20", I'll be happy.

Seems like its pretty darn close to the Tour-squad. Insanely strong squad....

Indeed. Landa, Poels and Henao would actually be leaders for many teams here.

With Thomas (riding TdS) in the roster, it would be even better in mountains. Is he going to the Tour ?
Probably. That way they stand a chance to win both races.
