Vuillermoz knows how to sprint uphill. Dumoulin is more of a road captain here.

Really funny how the Belgian media are hyping GvA.

After Rodez, they have some reason to hype him ofc.
Sure, but it's funny that "coincidentally" the only ones who are really hyping him today are his countrymen.

It's called nationalism.

When it's good, it's out of this world. When it's bad, it's the end of the world. We saw that the last days ;)

I think GVA isn't gonna win this, Rodez was way easier btw

It was. But today's finishing climb is not 2 km at + 10%. It has some easier parts in it. Maybe enough for GvA to hold on.

But Sagan is the big favorite ofcourse. I think guys like Martin and Alaphilippe have a bigger chance then GvA.

Hardly an objective measure of a rider's chances. :)

Objective measures. It's difficult to apply them sometimes ;)

Re: 2016 TdF, Stage 2: Saint-Lô → Cherbourg-en-Cotentin (183

Sean Yates from letour.com

"Given the characteristics of the finale, it's obviously a stage in which Peter [Sagan] should do well”, said the Englishman at the helm of the Tinkoff team. “He's on form as he showed yesterday and there is a fair chance to win the stage and take the yellow jersey because I don't think Cavendish or Kittel will be there. Peter was the world champion in similar conditions. Our priority is to win stages and to go for the GC with Alberto. Alberto is obviously sore but we hope there are still a number of days before the actual race begins. I hope today he'll be alright with this kind of weather because the 3 km rule won't apply and I expect the leaders to be in the front. I'm convinced Chris Froome will finish in the top 10 today and you can't afford to lose a couple of seconds here or there. So it will depend on how Alberto feels because injury takes a lot of energy for the body to heal.”

Froomy top 10? Think he is right.

Sagan or Allaphillipe but if Matthews is still there maybe him?also think valverde might want this stage as he is riding for Quintana this TDF.
Matthews is like Sagan but worse on every single metric. Every single one of them. Matthews has nothing on Peter.

However, we never know. One is an attacking rider, the other does nothing more than wait for the sprint and pray for some tired legs from the other guys. Let's see.

Froome was 6th on easier finish on stage 1 of 2014 Tour, so yeah, it's very likely.

But that wasn't a regular finish as that was the stage Gerrans and Cavendish crashed and messed up the sprint

Everyone is writing as if a full peloton will contest the end today

There is a lot of climbing before the finale ...so I expect EQS to make the race hard...they will go after the jersey...for Allaphilippe or even Dan Martin..Don't forget there are bonus seconds and that suits Martin...They will be smarting after yesterday and not getting the jersey and even if cross winds they are the experts

I don't expect Movistar to make the race hard as doesn't suit Quintana
However expect SKY to also crank it up and try and put both Contador in trouble and grasp bonus seconds so ahead of Quintana...every little counts in this Tour...So Froome & Dan Martin will be right up there

Spectator logic: Even when you were already waiting for an hour by the side of the road, the best time to cross the road is two seconds before a rider passes you.
