I wonder whether AC will attempt the customary showy but utterly futile attack for the cameras, or whether he'll try and fight for 3rd

Looking at the profiles, Stage 15 looks like the better place to attempt the suicidal long-range attack. But we shall see!

The Sky train is chuggin' along ... Froome must feel good.

Do you realize that the fact Sky is on the front has nothing to do with how Froome feels?

I disagree. Yo-yo Froome rarely has his team on the front Tour-style.

Yes, tomorrow's stage has always been the downside of today's.

Actually what Sky should do is set an infernal pace at the front of the peloton while Froome gets dropped. Naturally everyone follows the crazy pace and blows themselves up. Froome catches up and wins, easy. I should be the Sky DS.

Froome had his team up front when he suffered from a broken foot last year ...

That' was to knock the tempo off.

You wouldn't think Movistar were no.1 and 3 in GC with the amount of work they have done at the front on the Vuelta this year

What's amazing is how little work they've had to do in the break today. Fernandez and Moreno are completely fresh.

Ofc. But he's literally nearly always let his team work. Either to pull hard or to produce a false fast if he ain't feels good. So I wouldn't read anything out of it until he proves his point!

But do you think Sky would be on the front if Moreno isn't in the front group?

Gilbert abandons! Sick? Pal was going kinda strong so far.

Campenaerts really works his ass off once again for Gesink. True team player!

Well, Froome still has 6 with him and 1 ahead, which is the same as about 50km ago, right? So not a huge pace being set.

It almost seems like Orica has some sort of plan. They have been working a lot in the break all day, and none of their riders in the break are riders you would expect to be able to win the stage even if the break holds. But on the other hand it's difficult to see what kind of plan this could be part of.

Looks pretty moderate pacing uphill. The breakaway group isn't splitting.

I don't think Sky are as stupid as they used to be. I remember a stage in the 2014 Vuelta (maybe stage 11?) when Deignan and Cataldo were absolutely gunning it at the front and Froome was really suffering, not fake yo-yoing, at the back
