Más ain't going back to no Continental team, or at least he shouldn't be. He should be ProConti at least. Barceló, who also came via Fundación Contador but is now with the Fundación Euskadi, might go to that level but the fact he's in FE and riding as a stagiare for Cofidis means they and Murias probably are in the driving seat for him and Pro-Conti might be the logical next step for him. Besides, Caja Rural have quite a good line in talent-spotting good young climbers that they then can't keep hold of, and Jaime's the last in that line. Rosón was similarly strong in Croatia on the big mountains; Soler was so good in the spring that I have no qualms about him; he's also quite diesel-tastic so this isn't for him, especially given these are his first race days coming off a month out. He'll be underdone at the start of the Vuelta but his recovery seems pretty good so with a free role it will be of more importance to see where he is a week into the Vuelta. I think he'll be strong by the end if given the freedom to drop time early on.

I think 22 is enough to ride a GT. At 22, Andy Schleck rode the Giro and finished 2nd, Gesink did a top 10 in Vuelta '08, Kreuziger was contesting for the white jersey in Tour '08, Quintana was the super dom of Valverde and was outclimbing Anton, Gesink, Moreno, tired Froome etc. in some stages of Vuelta '12.
All of them were in their first GTs.

But this is Mas' first pro season. Not sure if it was for the ones you mentioned.

True, forgot that. They didn't ride a GT in their first pro season. Though Quintana was still riding Avenir in '11 (he was also riding pro races, including Catalunya) so Quintanas first pro year may be '12 by that criteria (as Mas also did Volta a Madrid and 2 Mallorcan classics last year)
He can ride the Canadian classics, Italian classics and Lombardia this year and ride a GT next year.

Thomas-like ride from Moscon, and I was interested to see that the TV showed footage from inside a teamcar - how often is this done? I can't remember seeing it, though of course I'm aware of teamcars being interviewed on Sporza etc.

I was thinking the exact same thing

Quick Step usually don't let youngsters ride a GT in their first year. I do think they have quite an exciting team. They started focusing abit more on GT's in recent years without abondoning their main ambitions in the Spring classics.

Gaviria, Jungels, Mas, Alaphilippe, De Plus, Lampaert,... are all very exciting, young riders.

So riders like Kittel can finish a grand tour and you think a world class puncheur who can do well in high mountains won't be able to finish it?

Just kidding, see the LOL in my post. Julian will be fine, I just feel sorry for him to have to ride the Vuelta so soon after coming back from knee injury.

In all seriousness, hope you are right about "good form by the the end of Vauelta." He was in excellent form after TDF16 and performed well at the Rio Olympics.

The Vuelta a Burgos really loves these finishes. Uphill sprints on small climbs.
I quite like them too, they're not that common.
