I saw the cable just after the finish - should have been put up on the finish gantry really. Although I don't know if it was that particular cable that caused the crashes.

Looks like a hard stage. It all depends on how it is raced but on paper it looks a bit too hard for Colbrelli.

Normally, this would be your typical Albasini stage but I don't know if he is past his prime. There are some good puncheurs like Bevin, Prades and perhaps even Van Baarle or Swift who can win from a very reduced group.
the last two times they used this (2007) or a very similar (2012) finish the groups were fairly big, with ~70-80 guys sprinting for the win.

But with Markus Fothen and Bradley Wiggins the winners were still very unusual ones, so yeah, really hard to say what to expect today.

If the other teams let Viviani or Bennett hang on, they deserve to lose.

Absolutely.. They might have a chance tomorrow but there's no way they should still be there at the end today.

Break:

Harm Vanhoucke (Lotto-Soudal), Jonas Vingegaard (Jumbo-Visma), Diego Rosa (INEOS), Alexis Gougeard (AG2R), Eros Capecchi (Deceuninck-Quick Step), William Bonnet (Groupama-FDJ), Maciej Bodnar (Bora-Hansgrohe), Chad Haga (Sunweb), Manuele Mori (UAE Emirates), Lukasz Owsian (CCC), Jay Robert Thomson (Dimension Data), Simon Pellaud & Patrick Schelling (Suisse)

But Thomson has been dropped now.

DNF: Dowsett, van Rensburg & Mäder

break has +/- 3m 30s

Mäder having a really tough spring. He looked very promising in San Juan, but after that its been horrible with crashes and poor form.

Buchmann up front.
Thomas, Woods, and Gaudu chasing.
Woods has dropped the "one on, one off" leg-warmer style.

For a sec there it looked like Betancour might have gotten his first WT win since… when… his P-N win?
