Yates is notoriously known for not liking harder stages.. even without hindsigt, I'd say its always the correct call to play it defensively for the stage unless its obvious that Bernal is having a *** day.

Very nice win for Caruso.

No doubt Bernal had the strongest team and it helped him a lot, but there was no rider who was stronger than him in this race. And I think he would not even have lost time today on the descent if he had followed DSM himself.
If everyone had the same team I think Bernal would still have won.

Yeah, it would have been different if he actually dropped Bernal on the final climb and won the stage, but he isn't that good on these kind of mountain stages.
