They need allies. I think even Copeland mentioned that. Trade a stage win for help.

Still think DQS will help anyway. Almeida has a chance to go a long way up here in the right conditions and they're not going to turn their noses up at that just because BE didn't let them send a rider up the road.

(and they can even potentially gift Almeida a stage win in the end if he's still there)

Liking this from Ganna: "I’ve been happy to work for Egan at the Giro, though Puccio and I perhaps deserve a special prize for all the work we've done on the front." Bernal seems like a guy you can guilt into giving you a nice gift.

Bernal said yesterday he is doing his best numbers ever ...just Almedia and Yates were better
But not obviously as consistently high
Do you have a source, where he said that?
Last year in Tour he was saying the same until his back gave up.

I hardly can remember any interview with a cyclist where it was said that numbers are not good. Contador did his best numbers every year after the ban, Nibali did his best numbers every year after the 2014 TdF and it was apparent that they did not. Oh, yeah - Valverde also did his best numbers last year.

We've heard this with the best numbers before but 6.3 W/kg for around 29 min. very good. Fact is Yates was stratospheric.

What's the last time the breakaway wasn't complete disappointment GC wise on the final mountain stage of a Grand Tour?

Actually Yates is one of the very few that can beat everyone on a good day. He just struggles with keeping that level. But when it is his day, he is really really good.

I think BE wanted DQS to help chase the break and if DQS has one in the break they probably wont chase.

The dudes seem to be getting along pretty well. Maybe they'll just soft-pedal it, with a half-hearted dig up the last mountain just for show, with Ineos' doms bringing it all back together.
