A finish around Chieti would just make this stage so much more interesting to follow. I never really understood why you have to put stages like this on the weekend, but I say that every year, so I realize I sound like a broken record.

I never saw a problem with weekend/week day stages.

And this is the only flat stage until the last Wednesday of the race, so I think we will survive.

The weekend/week day 'problem' is pretty straight forward - in the weekend, you can choose to watch it all if you deem it interesting enough (which I do in Flanders and Roubaix, for example, or lots of the TdF-stages last year), where as week days is usually just 1 or maybe 2 hours.

Breakaway chatting and looking like they're having a good time, good to see! (I'm sure they already know they won't make it, peloton is less than a minute behind with 56km to go.)

Not for me. For me, it's just as likely that I won't be able to watch on a weekend day than on a week day.

And in the week days, there is no other sport going on at the same time.

Thats true, but I don't really watch that much other sport than cycling apart from NBA and yeah, thats not at that time of the day.

I just much prefer having actual good stages on a weekend where I generally have more time (especially sundays) compared to a week day where I don't have a problem not tuning in with 5 km to go on a flat day (if I even do that).

Did you folks get (just now) that piano interlude with no announcing and just some ambient sound? Brought me back to CBS coverage of Le Tour with John Tesch (sp?)

Good nostalgia. And Italy's scenery does make an impression.

Rohan Dennis casually changing shoes a little bit ago, peloton chatting amongst each other, this definitely looks like a relaxing Sunday ride.
