Stage 13 looks hardcore to me.

It‘s like Galibier plus twice Alpe d‘Huez, or even slightly harder.

I didn‘t know San Bernardo from Aosta has 34.3 kilometers at 5.5% average gradient. You find such numbers rather at South American climbs, on gravel roads. In Europe, tarmacs roads with these numbers are rather rare.

I think this stage 13 is brutally hard, especially when ridden aggressively right from the start…

Rare-ish, but not exceptional. Val Thorens, north side of Iséran, east side of Loze, north side of Sella, south side of Bernina, and Sierra Nevada all have similar statistics, not to mention what's in the Canary Islands. And I'm sure there will be stuff I'm not thinking of in addition to that.

Galibier from Southwest.
Berinina and Forcola di Livigno are probably harder because there's that 10kms of flase flat after the first part, the final 15kms of both climbs average nearly 8%.
 
I mean if stages get canceled I'm firing up my pitchfork and sharpening my torch.
talking about it... the Inner Ring preview mentioned that tunnels could be used for the Swiss climbs, in case of bad weather. For the St. Bernhard that would be at 1900m, as far as I can see. Let's hope it doesn't have to happen, but it looks like a better solution that having to cancel the whole thing, at least.
 
An amazing write up that I will no doubt refer back to as each stage arrives. As far as the route is concerned, browsing through the stages it is quite breathtaking (the route and Eshnar's knowledge). But I really fear that Remco might grab pink on stage 1 then carry it all the way to Rome?

But with the ITT on the first stage it also means the Giro will grab our attention on the first day rather than the TdF which traditionally teases you for one or two weeks until the real mountains begin.
 
It's in 2 weeks and both the Grand Saint Bernard and the Croix de Coeur are still closed because the roads are covered with snow.
But now the weather is nice and warm.
The Grand Saint Bernard should be fine by then. I am more worried about Croix de Coeur. The road surface on the north side is just not that good.
Beware of punctures. And crashes if it's wet.

It's a ploy. When they see Evenepoel is struggling, they will take the tunnel. They already gave him the TT's, and yesterday i learned they hired the Sporza team of TV director, motards and cameramen to provide the images. Don't be surprised if Evenepoel gets massive motopacing on multiple occasions. You saw how they also prevented Pogacar attack in RVV by crashing in front of him. Poor Roglic doesn't stand a chance.

Covid is already on Remco's side. I think there may be more riders to drop out as the race goes on.

Not cancelled, but take another route. It is a TT there is no need to kill yourself over the route.

This is just Italian organising skills in action rather than cycling being amateurish, there's always something that doesn't work and has to be changed at the last minute (the main feature of the stage being removed two weeks before the show at Eurovision last year comes to mind). In any case, provided there's a replacement stage, I would be overjoyed if the MTT is scrapped, whether it's an easier TT (for example up the easy side of Sella Nevea like @Mayomaniac has suggested previously) or a more mid-mountainy stage (the easiest option would be multiple loops over Cereschiatis and the hard side of Sella Nevea) that replaces it.

Evenepoel already having a preemptive meltdown over the possibility of the MTT being replaced with a road stage because it wouldn't be fair according to him. Because a flatter TT as a replacement wouldn't upset the balance far more than a replacement mountain stage when 90% of the MTT was going to be spent climbing...
Wonder how much he'll say if mountain stages get nerfed.
