Don't continental champions usually get a free spot?
Is something different this year?
Reigning Olympic and Continental Champions

*Unless the nation concerned has qualified 8 riders to start through provision 1, the reigning Men EliteRoad Race Olympic Champion and reigning Men Elite Road Race Continental Champions may take partin the first UCI Road World Championships after they won their respective title, in addition to the quotaallocated to their nation. The additional quotas obtained by the reigning champions may not be used byanother rider. However, through this disposition a nation can only obtain one additional quota. If a nation has severalchampions, it will be up to the nation to choose the one quota.
So not if you already have your 8.

Liking the look of the Mens Junior Road Race almost as much as the elite version.
Women's Junior race might almost be the one I'm looking forward to most as well. With a couple of exceptions, the road season has been dominated by CX riders who should go well on this course.

I was actually talking the TT.
Switzerland just have the two Stefans selected, but Bisseger is European Champion.
"the reigning Individual Time Trial Continental Champions may take part in the first UCI Road World Championships following the award of their title" is what the rules say, so Bissegger already got that last year. The other, "new" continental champions got a quota spot on top:

Aah, of course. Because of the whole "Everything's Been Mixed Up" thing.

See a lot of riders announced for worlds that also seem to be riding in Poland that ends 2 days before the road race. Pretty weird combo no?

yeah, kinda weird, though they might DNF or ride easy.

Like riders doing Tour of the Alps before LBL, but there might be a few Italians that just took it easy at Alps that turns up strong in Liege.

Or if you are doing Dom work at both.

Who should we be looking out for in that race
From the teams that have been announced so far:

Ferguson
Sharp
Gery
Bego
Molengraaf
Moors
Van Sinaey

Hopefully, Venturelli for Italy and the Holmgren twins for Canada will be added?

It should a good course for CX riders which is nearly all of the above except Sharp and Bego. The latter can probably only win from a long break, maybe alongside Venturelli or one of the Holmgrens. Sharp will likely be employed to try and neutralise in support of Ferguson, who has had an extraordinary first season, winning Lomabardy, Flanders and has hardly been off the podium, except where the hills get bigger which shouldn't be a factor here?

Dark Horse might be Molengraaf who has had a very quiet road season but got her best result last weekend in Spain and is possibly targetting this race.

Someone more informed might have a, very welcome, different opinion?

Tarling to participate in the elite race, not the U23. Unfortunately, he's not on the track endurance team either, nor is Ethan Hayter. Big opportunity for Italy to get their title back.

Every U23 ITT rider after the Wallonie ITT:
"Joshua... pleeeeeeeease!"

(The decision had probably already been made.)

Meanwhile the Italians are mad at the schedule, because Track cycling TP one day before the Men's elite RR pretty much means no road race for Ganna and Milan (and maybe Consonni).

Mohoric isn't going because, he says, you need a strong team/country to be able to control the race on a course like that. Seems to me like if every Slovenian would be willing to go to the WCC, that they would have one of the stronger teams there.
And Pogacar is now riding. With the form he's had it's a real shame Mohoric isn't going.

Hard to look past Matteo Jorgenson, aka "American Movistar Classics Rider" aka Big Big Matty J. for the win on this parcours.

Yes, makes even less sense now. They could have been great counterfoil to the WVA/Evenepoel combo.
They wouldn't even need to control anything, they have 4 strong riders that can go the distance to go in different breaks and all of them have an actual shot at winning. Maybe the fact that they do not have an outright favourite, would make them even more dangerous.

Only Isabella Holmgren selected for the Canadian team. Not sure why Ava hasn't been included?
