Contador´s fall in last metres. Awaiting Jury´s decision, but don´t seems it will affect general classification #itzulia
Hopefully, for the sake of the GC, he'll get the same time as the peloton. Although it looked like there may have been a few splits so he could still lose a couple of seconds I guess.

He'll get s.t.

Another thing; that's how most sprint finish should be imo. Undulating in the last 5km with a small chance for attackers to stay away; then a series of technical challenges in the last km, meaning trains have a more limited impact and there's as much focus on handling as on raw power

Contador: "Hemos caído a 700 metros en cesped. Hemos salvado una caída dura. Hemos salvado bien el día. De momento no tengo dolor"

Doesn't seem to bother him much, no pain. For now, at least.

Strictly speaking Balaphillipe's puncture was just outside the 3 km to go but they've been known to not be strict on that before (assuming he didn't finish with the peloton)
Edit: maybe if you ride into the last 3 km it's ok

Yeah, he didn't seem to have any cuts or scrapes. He'll be a bit sore tomorrow and the day after maybe but thankfully the race only starts properly on Friday.

If he dropped out of the peloton to change bikes within 3km to go (which he did, I think), he should be fine.

Alaphalippe continued riding with the puncture until he was inside the 3km - Good win by Matthews who took a cheeky look back at Gerrans.

He crashes more than Bobby Gesink and Keldermerckx combined these days.

Saving up energy for the Arrate stage, so he can animate it like last year :D

And a good while after that too. Well, he kinda had to keep riding for as long as possible; the cars weren't exactly nearby.

Disgusting Matthews win... he never has his nose in the wind until the last 150 metres.
That's racing with a 8-man team. The wheelsucker wins, the attacker loses.

Reduce the number to 6 now!

Alberto is as frail as a 90 year old lady.

Even LaFlorecita must be tired of him crashing all the time.
He's not frail, something is just wrong. It can't be his bike handling skills because he had no issues in earlier years. Trek would do well to get to the bottom of it because at this point a crash looks like his worst enemy for the Tour.

Valverde will be good. He was very eager to attack today. Alaphilippe also looks like someone who is motivated.

No way that stage 3 and 4 will be sprint stages. I predict an aggressive race.

He's a sprinter for Christ sake, what did you expected!? And actually he rode quite well, he went from behind to 2nd position before last turn all by his own, and then smoked McCarthy in the sprint. To me he was quite good...

Tommorow is hillier. Can you find out something about these hidden climbs? The last one looks pretty steep and is following by a downhill section.

I doubt the winner will be a sprinter. I'm sure Alaphilippe wants revenge. QS and their shitty bikes (see Boonen in Vlaanderen).

According to Lasterketa Burua (and Cronoescalada profiles, better than the official ones), the last bump is 1.1km at 6%. Today was 1.4km at 3.4%.

And so yet again a good course is knocked before it begins

On here so many moaned Paris Nice parcours ...and it turned out to eb a great race
So many moaned and moaned Catalunya and it too turned out to be another good race

And so it was with Pais Vasco....

Maybe its just so many on here who think they know everything about parcours just love to moan and indeed know very little

Or they are not happy until every course is the exact same ...Mountain stage, Mountain stage,Mountain stage,Mountain stage,Mountain stage, hilly TT

Nobody or at least very few people moaned about the Paris-Nice course, it was a great design. Volta course was complained about because there was so little terrain to make up time that it was feared the long TTT would have a huge impact on the GC which turned out to be true. This race wasn't moaned about, people just concluded it's an easier parcours than in other years which is most definitely the case.
Sometimes I feel posters on here just make things up for the sake of moaning about other posters...
It's like the forum police won't allow people to complain about the flaws they see in the course design anymore...
