approximately 60 riders out by my count after 5 days of racing (not all due to COVID), positive cases in at least 10 teams I think

seems very optimistic to keep on going, but it seems that every party involved wants that

I don't think there were outbreaks this big at any race in 2020.

The obvious question here is how did it happen. Are the protocols more slack in 2022 or no longer sufficient.

Nobody seems to care anymore and on top whatever variant is circulating is far more contagious, vaccines have no effect whatsoever in preventing, immunity from previous infections last a short time. It's a Russian Roulette of who's getting it.

Of course you wouldn't wish it upon anyone, but for the sake of entertainment and excitement it wouldn't be too bad if Fuglsang and Thomas also tested positive...

Perhaps the riders who already had it continues :D. Is there any news if riders tested positiv twice with omikron?

I think almost everyone had it before. There's a new variant around now, and apparently prior infection doesn't mean much protection to it

I nearly posted yesterday that I thought it could be 50/50 whether the race reaches Sunday but now I think it is farcical to continue as teams and sponsors will want to protect their riders and staff ahead of le Tour so many more riders may now be withdrawn as a safety measure rather than a positive test. They should stop the race.

IPT should not test Fuglsang, they need the points desperately. Lock him in a room separate to everyone else after the stage is finished.

Covid it's so easy to catch, especially now measures have been diminished.

In a peloton it might circulate easily. Plus, I don't think thousand of fans yelling at your face with no mask in a climb is adding to safety...

As for those testing positive these days, if they have a "standard covid" (standard for these days) they should be fine by the Grand Depart.

Absolutely ridiculous that they haven't cancelled the rest of the race. Even aside from the implications of continuing there is no way that they can hang on another three days at this rate. The Tour might also be ****ed...

When he said his goal was to win this, I was like nahh. But then again, he'll probably test positive tomorrow.

At least all the riders getting it now probably won't get it again during the Tour.

I am thinking if in hindsight one of the now positive riders might actually be a big profiteer at the Tour...
