Sheesh you guys... "he looks fat" "he looks tired" "he looks overweight"....
it is true tho :p :p

Seriously, he needs to be below his Giro weight if he wants to win Tour, I dont know if he can make it, there are only 2 weeks until RdS

Fleur, here are the reference pics. I expect a full analysis when you see him fully in tour du sud. I got every side of him covered.

Guys chill out! Alberto knows what he is doing, and if he can't reach his goal it sure isn't because he is lazy. He is trying to achieve the impossible, and we can analyze on pictures, comments and so on - which we should do, but don't make any conclusions yet. We will get our answers 4th July, so don't bum yourselves out if you think he looks too fat. Nothing is decided yet! :)

He looked "bigger" at the Giro... hips/legs and upper body.. but we will see in Route du Sud and TDF

Look at Nibali in that last pic
Nibali is just using Diaphragmatic breathing, he was very lean at the start of the Giro, air enters the lungs and the belly expands.

I know ;) but it shows that you shouldn't look at a rider's belly to see how lean he is ;)

I'm sure Contador and his trainers know all the stats on where he needs to be come July 4. You would think that everything is going according to plan, with the Giro mission accomplished, and now AC can just focuss on arriving exactly where he wants to be in early July.

He knows that 2013 can't happen again if he wants to be successful, a tough lesson he seemed to have not only bounced back from in 2014, but that made him get even better. It is, therefore, difficult to imagine that he would let his weight slip away from target. No that would impardonable given his quest.

nibali is using the norwegian breathing. Ask birdsong. Rumors said he is the best rider in astana team now, even nibs and scarponi can't drop him in the training camp *read somewhere*. I won't worry about contador weight. I more interested how much muscle he develops for training to run up the mountain standing int his pedal :D. And I don't believe he will show up with his 2013 form. He knows it.

How can Nibili be better than Nibs? :D

Incontri fortunati! #Training @albertocontador

Looks like him... red helmet and black kit???

Nice pic.
yh it's him, he's wearing his customized jersey for training.

Interesting, on Eurosport Karsten Kroon says that when he was watching the Finestre stage and saw Alberto dropping, he thought to himself that he would lose the Giro, because he was 1.30 behind at the top and there were still 25km to go. But then he kept the gap stable, so he feels he was either bluffing or just didn't want to go all out.
So basically what some of us also said.

I don't believe it for one second. Alberto losing 2:30 and looking vulnerable intentionally? Not buying it!

That stage is an invitation for Froome, Nairo and Nibali to attack the crap out of him. I just don't believe he would open that door if he could prevent it. He dropped because he couldn't stay with them, and then he rode without going red. If he went red he could have easily lost the Giro.

That's the point. He didn't want to go too deep.
And he lost 1 minute in the final few km.. he just rode his own pace.

That isn't bluffing IMO, it was smart riding to salvage his Giro.

If the point is that the time he lost to Aru overstates the disparity in strength between the two that day, then sure. Mainly because at Sestriere Aru clearly went all out and benefitted from Landa's pace making, whereas Contador didn't go all out and had to ride solo. How many seconds that is worth is anyone's guess.
