Nilsson said:You certainly have some valid points, Climver. The problem with guys like Contador is that they just don't get that. He is a class above the others, has a different mentality, his own style of riding and is used to take matters into his own hands (if something apparently doesn't work out) and last but not least: more often than not he will not be corrected, if he makes a mistake or should do something in a different manner...
I once read a piece by Karsten Kroon, which also points that out.
Thanks, I'm deeply touchedxrayvision said:Oh boy, you truly don´t understand shyt about cycling
Lol, c'mon, standart friendly pin.and that you lose all kind of objectivity due to your hate for the guy is just pathetic, and yet hilarious.

Netserk said:You're right I misremembered. My point was that if he was affected my illness on that stage (and therefore also in the ITT), he'd be able to do much better if he wasn't sick. Perhaps well enough to win.

Jelantik said:thanks for sharing Nilsson. And Climber, nice observation. I saw him always alone too and wondering where his team mate. The article and Climber's observation at least give us something to discuss. I guess, that's the problem of most of great rider huh? I don't think the situation is uncommon either, even in a regular workplace, sometimes the star employee forgets that they can rely on their coworker to complete the project. With sky domination and Froome/Porte duo, it's not a bad idea for contador to rely on his teammate more. Maybe that's why Saxo DS is talking about 'more communication' as one of their objective.
airstream said:Thanks, I'm deeply touchedBut bear in mind if he gets beaten by a rider of a 'lower class' I'd be entitled to tell the same about you. I won't do that, though.
Lol, c'mon, standart friendly pin.check it out in the Tour if you like
Cimber said:Chicken and the egg discussion. But funny that hé does it regardless of who the teammate happens to be. Personally, I just think that way of flickering just comes natural to him by insticnt

the sceptic said:will he get top 10 in the tour?
sulgpallur said:top 10 is sure thing, unless he starts climbing with gruppeto
Angliru said:In the days of Astana (2009) and Discovery, he was rarely isolated and that is a testament to the strength of the team and the organization and planning of the ds/manager. Saxo/Tinkoff hasn't shown to be as strong or drilled as those teams. They are improving but with so many new riders in important positions they appear to be working out the kinks. If the domestiques don't have the legs at a crucial moment to marshall their leader to a safe position in the peloton or even continually to battle to hold their position then the leader has to move up there on their own.
Cimber said:Even back then he was flickering around a lot on the flatter stages esp. He has never felt comfortable simeply following a team made unless his team is on the front of the peloton powering though (which Astana and Discovery did a lot)
LaFlorecita said:What makes you think he doesn't rely on his teammates? He does. But when his teammates cannot cope and are getting him into trouble, he takes care of himself. And I like it that way. I much prefer to see him alone in a safe place than on the ground with several teammates around him.
LaFlorecita said:isn't that normal?
Jelantik said:The point is 'communication.. communication.. communication..' His DS said that too. that's all![]()
Cimber said:For Contador yes. For a lot of others not so much.
