Teams & Riders Alberto Contador Discussion Thread

This is going to sound strange, but I think the loss of Noval cost them a bit of time. Also, rumors of Contador's demise were a bit premature. I think we have a great race ahead of us (barring any further crashes/injuries)--Saxo looks to be on par with (or dare I say slightly stronger) Team Sky, which has to worry Froome a bit (reading some of his comments, I've gotten the impression he wants to dominate/embarrass Contador)

Noval just confirmed on danish tv2

In the third or fourth turn a spectator was standing outside the barrier with his camera. Noval hit him and may have broken something in his hand. So stupid when theese kind of things happen

Looks like Froome will have a Dawg fight on his hands if Bertie is recovering, and he looked good today IMO :)

I've been on the side of the road when the pros come through a corner in a ITT with my camera (with a huge lens on it). I was not in any way, shape or form prepared for how close they come to the barriers without crashing (same with the team cars), so I can't say im surprised that it happened. Actually, im surprised it doesn't happen more often. Hopefully Noval's hand isnt broken

The difference is that this photographer was standing on the wrong side of the barriers

Its on like Donkey Kong !. Sky not as strong as uk media would like to brainwash people into thinking. Didnt look good yesterday and did not win today. Fair fight in mountains without big ttt gaps is what i want to see.

He was locked into position and solid; very fluid in pedal strokes when I saw him :) This will be a great race!!!

He was doing his usual back and forward moving from what I saw. But that is his style, so not a bad thing.

Ok, I was already excited because of the team, but after today I'm super happy. The hard part is still ahead of them, but seems like they have got what they missed in the first part of the season. Tosatto, Bennati are always there, and who can ask for better super domestiques like Rogers, Roche and Kreuziger? As I wrote, there is much left, but I'm really confident.

It's great to get Roche's diaries from inside Saxo Bank rather than Ag2r. They have always been worth reading, but it's obviously more interesting to get some insights into tactical decisions by a team that is riding for the GC win.

Presumably if any comments are made about Contador's condition at any point they will have to be taken with a whole bucket of salt - whatever is said on that point will be what Saxo Tinkoff want their opponents to think - but it is rare to get the opportunity to see how Contador approaches the tactical part of the sport.

It's interesting that Contador just told one teammate to close the gap on Valverde and Evans yesterday. I suppose that's the advantage of finally having a strong support team - it's a bit of a novel luxury for Contador to have fringe GC men like Kreuziger, Roche or Rogers to stick on the front.

Think they could have possible won or Boeing at SKYs time at least had Noval had no accident. He was and has been very strong this Tour. To bad that his injury is quite serious and will require and operation later on

It's good. In the vuelta he had to close a lot of gaps himself in the mountains which obviously costs a lot of power. Now we'll hopefully see Roche, Kreuziger and Rogers help out. Especially Kreuziger seems very strong in this years tour.
