anyway, contador will be resting and doing recovery rides all week. after 3 weeks of taking his body to the limit all rust should be gone and he should reach the worlds in top shape, and by top shape i mean even better then at the vuelta.

i am pretty confident he can win the ITT and that is why he isn't racing the TTT, in order to save himself to the max

You really expect him to reach a real peak form for the worlds?

He dident seem to quite be there at the end of vuelta, i got a feeling that he will need a bit longer before he will be able to really reach peak form again.

Finally a believer, i've been repeating myself too many times about this lol

But this year it's his time, he can win it. Kessiakoff and Martin are the other favorites. Don't see who else can do win it on such a hilly course.

De Gendt can do a top 5 but not winning it of course. For Boom it's too long and too hilly. He hasn't proved much on such a TT.

I'm rooting for contador. The course is hilly enough for him. I hope he got ride off his rust and ready to go. Maybe not full 100%, but Tony wasn't 100% either. Kessiakof might be tired too. So none of them are 100%.

Well, I don't think his team has a chance to win TTT anyway, maybe that's why. So why not focus more on ITT and RR? he got more chances to podium if not winning it.

It is still "just" a time trial (although a important one). Wheter he is 100% or not this we will never know. But i assume he will come, logically speaking, in better form then his very good TT in La Vuelta and the competition around isnt exactly murdering. It will be enough to consider him as one of the favourites.

I read that he and a couple of the other guys caught a cold in the last days of the Vuelta.
So I think he has to recover.

Considering the circuit: who are the main rivals of Contador for the ITT? Someone mentioned Kesiakoff and Martin but I'm not so sure. I'll wait for the official start list to place my bet for this, although I marked him for the road race

like jyhjyh said, he caught a cold from noval on the last few days of the vuelta. Riis said it himself after the vuelta apparently.

and yes i expect him to be in top shape for the worlds. you don't win a GT being in such a bad shape that it takes you months to recover your top form.

Most world championships win worlds after racing the vuelta. And the thing stopping Contador from being in top form at the vuelta was lack of racing days which he now has. I think he will be able to hold his current form and put in a good performance for the TT.

Plus without Cancellara, Wiggins, and Martins being injured almost all year he will have a even better chance. I think he could at least manage a podium.

Boaro was always on the team. It is Tanner who is replacing Contador.

It's time he got a medal representing his country. He narrowly missed at the 2008 Olympics, finishing 4th in the ITT there.

If the cold story is true (and we can never really trust what they say, tbh) he has an excellent chance, Froome would have been a good competitor but I see it unlikely that he will recover sufficiently. Should be interesting. And definitely not taken for granted.

I think a lot of people, myself included, took the Vuelta ... not necessarily for granted, but didn't imagine it being the epic battle that it was.

But that being said, I always have my money on AC in any race he enters.

Not sure what all the hoo ha was a few pages back. I was gone for a little while and only have limited access to images posted at work as anything deemed social media or image/streaming sites are blocked.

Was the girl talk about AC getting out of hand?

This we dont know. Maybe. Maybe not.

I play with Carols thought that AC gradually has built momentum due to his many various things troughout the route while not accomplished it all in one stage. Short accelerations, Longer accelerations while not sustaining it, many accelerations, tempo yesterday. If he yesterday felt able of highening the tempo, rather then attacking, from distance while riding tempo he has come further in his progression and with the end stages yet to come he might have it falling to pieces and try it all. That would be AC at 100%.

I say look out for Fuente De after todays rest day.

I´m flattered. But i just built that thought after some other guys talked of the possibility of a Fuente De attack. After AC said he hoped for rain i realised what he had in mind (so i might have predicted his long attack at least).

Funny stuff aside. The worlds is the only thing he has not won (after the Olympics of course). I am confident he would love to decorate his Palmares with a world cup. This time, he has the course on his side, the competition is reduced, he has the form and probably stamina. He might not get a better chance then this since the worlds is pretty much by chance.

I see the possibility of a new Colombia -95 with gold in road race (Valverde) and gold in the TT (Contador) and sticks with that.

My guess is Gilbert in road race and Contador/Kessiakoff in the ITT.
