IMO you'd better fit in in the Froome thread.arvc40 said:Portal just having a gloat that Froome is super strong and will be super for the next 2 weeks !

I don't think it's his recovery, he's just much less consistent. Great one day then *** the other. To be honest I'm not even sure about the supposed stomach issues on stage 3 as it could just as well have been a really bad day.Matteo. said:He no longer has the ability to recoverRed Rick said:Not really. Your post today reminded me of yesterday's post and I realized this is a pattern.arvc40 said:LaFlorecita said:arvc40 said:A real show of peak performance today. Pushing the riders to there limits. Crikey you had to quote from yesterday because my comment today is too reasonable !. Whats wrong with what I said today ?
While I agree, this is NOT the general stage thread...arvc40 said:View down to sea level at the line was incredible !.
Looking at the profiles for the upcoming stages, I realized 2 things:LaFlorecita said:I don't think it's his recovery, he's just much less consistent. Great one day then **** the other. It wasn't really bad, but it was worse than expected. He really seemed to be struggling.Climber123 said:Not sure it was really bad. It was the least likely scenario for him to win with a 400m sprint out to be fair.
Thats a pretty optimistic view of things....TommyGun said:I would not read too much into today's result: I have watched the finale again, and Contador missed catching Froome's wheel by one or two bike lengths when he accelerated. From then, with the strong headwind, it was not possible to keep on trying to catch Froome: then Contador clearly sat down and let the other riders pass him (I.e. the ones that had eaten less wind).
For me the headwind did not play in Contador's favour at all.

Froome was riding into the headwind as well. What you're saying is that if Contador had managed to draft behind Froome he would have done better but essentially he'd have been just as bad.TommyGun said:I would not read too much into today's result: I have watched the finale again, and Contador missed catching Froome's wheel by one or two bike lengths when he accelerated. I'd add Chaves. He may lose to Contador 2 min in the ITT, but he's climbing well. On the other hand TJ's performance may be more volatile as the race goes on.Climber123 said:On a positive note Alberto moved to 13th on GC. How many minutes can he take on everyone not named Froome , Nibali or TJ?

Replace TJ with Chaves and you have the expected podium atm.
Spot on. He lacks the explosiveness for a Mur de Huy finish like it turned out today.Perhaps he should have restrained himself from responding to Froome and instead taken the same approach as Chaves. I reckon he could have lost 4 or 5 seconds less that way.Red Rick said:Not really. Just day to day variation. Riding the climb this way didn't suit Contador at all.
