Rumor has it he set a new personal record on his test climb before leaving for Colombia. A shame he fell ill as he surely would have crushed this race but at least he lost a couple of pounds over the last few days or so we assume.

On a serious note, I saw some pictures pop up from early 2018 a few weeks ago. Gods he was pudgy then.
Those dudes are probably used to eat 5,000 kcal a day and that's probably harder to quit than riding the bike for 4-5h a day.

Excellent in-depth analysis of this rematch by Lanterne Rouge on youtube! On a more serious note, I really miss cycling. I watch football (real football, not american) regularly and have some favorite teams, but nothing can beat a decently exciting bike race.

Wonder if the result was fixed as usual in crits or if it was a real race

If he had won in a sprint for sure it was fixed LOL. But he rode away and stayed away so we'll never know. He's in great shape. maybe the others not so much, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt :).

Winning a sprint would feel too much like attacking for Andy :p

He's one of the most recently retired riders in that bunch, and he still rides a lot. Especially sprinters who retired much longer ago not closing a gap isn't that big a surprise.
