"2012" on BBC is entertaining - I saw the first three episodes and hope there is more to come. Story is a comedic view of the organization for the London Olympic games. I believe Sabastian Coe appears in the show.

Other than that the only show I watch every week is "The Big Bang Theory".

some ones I forgot about

Softly, Softly (ref: catchee monkey) British police
Z Cars (ditto)
Sandbaggers British spy drama. These three dramas from many moons ago.

Spiral (French crime drama) just started watching...convoluted, flawed realistic characters....awesome

Wallander (original rather than recent English version) yes another crime drama

Silk (superb ensemble cast) British legal drama.

So very sorry to hear of Andy Griffith's death. Mayberry will live forever.......

Susan

Three weeks ago, my sister, my niece and I were driving back from a trip to Pennsylvania and we stopped in Andy's hometown of Mt. Airy, NC. They have a museum dedicated to him with a bronze statue of the Andy and Opie characters toting their fishing poles. :)

One of my most prized possessions is a T-shirt my sister bought for me when she was living in Raleigh, NC. It features Don Knotts in his Barney Fife get-up with the slogan, "Raleigh- Where Barney Comes To Party". :D I was on a bike tour in Provence back in 1998, and I happened to be wearing this shirt one day walking down the street in Gordes, IIRC, when a passing car slowed down and an older gentleman called out, "Love your shirt, fella!" :p

Just tried to watch the first 3 episodes of Game of Thrones since everyone has told me watch it. I'm afraid I'll be one of few not really getting the fuss about it? I genuinly thought it was boring. Does it get MUCH better or does the fact that I don't enjoy it now mean I probably wont enjoy the rest either?

Yea, I couldn't hang on to that bandwagon. Figure after Rome any similar show would not meet the standard. Some shows themes need to know when to end it before it just becomes a fad.

Lots of great series have been mentioned, but The West Wing would have to be may all time fave. The quality of the writing was beyond compare. Outstanding TV, and there isn't that much of it around.

Some other faves:

My So-Called Life (revisited this recently and it holds up pretty well even though I am no longer a teenage girl!)
The Vicar of Dibley
Absolutely Fabulous
Homeland (hopefully the second series is as good)
Queer As Folk (both UK and US)
House (I have a weird thing for Hugh Laurie, there I said it :))
ER
Extras
Blackadder
Who Do You Think You Are? (UK, Aus or US versions)
Anything on my television that involves Stephen Fry.

Some Aussie stuff:

Love My Way (all time favourite Australian show, series 1, episode 8 is devastating and one of the best pieces of Australian television I've seen)
The Late Show
The Games (mockumentary about organising Sydney Olympics)
Kath and Kim
Prisoner (classic set in a women's prison... with warders by the name of Vinegar Tits and The Freak. So bad it's good!)

The following three shows are all by Chris Lillee. I honestly don't know how they'd be viewed by a non-Australian audience. Polarised a few people here but I loved them.

We Can Be Heroes
Summer Heights High
Angry Boys
