I have never watched Breaking Bad, House of Cards or Homeland. I have a strange behavior of not watching tv-shows who are hyped to mythical proportions.

Some really cool tv-series are Luther (great Idris Elba!), the first 5 episodes of the first season of True Detective (end was horrible) and Boardwalk Empire.

And i really want to watch Narcos and The Knick. Somebody who watched the latter? Is it worth to watch?

The Knick was pretty good. Would not put it in the great category. Not as good as True Detective. I got tired of Boardwalk Empire and Luther. Do yourself a favor and watch Breaking Bad, House of Cards and Homeland. They are all good in different ways but BB was the best of the three I think. The first series of Homeland was great and the second was almost as good.

You are seriously shooting yourself in the foot here. BB deserves all the hype it gets.

Agreed. HoC is fantastic if you're a political animal, and especially if you're into US politics. Homeland is pretty good entertainment, but I can imagine that some people might not like it. I have certainly never seen Homeland hyped as anything really special.

BrBa is really special. It is an alltime, classic, quality piece of work. It's part of my personal 'Big 3', together with Sopranos and The Wire. However, there's a hot contender rising with a bullet. The best series, and I mean 'best' in every respect of film making that you can think of, that I have seen since BrBa is Fargo season 2. If anyone hasn't seen it, dive in, it's great.

I just watched the first season of the Hulu-show "Casual" (10 episodes). It has been renewed for a second season and I can highly recommend it.

We have very similar tastes......for me 1) The Sopranos 2) Breaking Bad 3) The Wire

I also have enjoyed both seasons of Fargo.
1st Season of True Detective was very good, the 2nd was rubbish imho. I just can't see Vince Vaughn in a serious role.....think wedding crashers and it stops there.

Special mention to House of Cards, Homeland, Narcos and Gomorra

Watched 3 episodes of True Detective 2nd season. Then I gave up. The 1st season, though, was very very good. Basically every monologue of Rust Cohle is genius, whether it makes sense or not.

I've just discovered Parks and Recreation.

I now have a man crush on Ron Swanson and aspire to become Andy Dwyer. Where have I been all my life!

Had a go at Parks and Wreck but couldn't make it stick........moved on.

I enjoyed "Silicon Valley" - nothing to cerebral, just good casting and light humour.

The first season is a bit average but lifts over 2 and 3. When Amy Poehler's character stops being such a ditzy blonde and Nick Offerman steps up things get going.

The middle Parks and Rec were the best, the later seasons a little less funny then again.

I am a Silicon Valley fan too, new season is starting in April!

What really lifts the show, imo, is the full time inclusion of Chris Traeger.

The second season was a huge improvement to the first season, but the first season's finale would be the funniest TV episode I ever watched.

That honour still goes to the second ever episode of The IT Crowd IMO :D

Lol I know what you are talking about. I rewatched it a few times :D

X-Files starts in the UK next week, I think this was one of the greats of the modern era.

I am a huge X-files fan, have watched the first 2 episodes of Season 10 and I am enjoying it and looking forward to watching E03 tonight.

It was always going to be hard to live up to expectations of the good times of old (for me everything up to season 7 when it just became a bit hard to follow), so I think it has done quite well taking the long break into account. The first episode only really had 1 scene which made me feel uncomfortable but I'm willing to forgive and move on.

Been binge-watching The Sopranos lately, and while not suited for everyone (due to much violence and nudity), I think it is actually as good as had been purported years ago when it first came out.

I'm not saying it's the best TV series ever, I am saying it is worth a watch if you haven't seen it already... I am hooked, anyway.

IMHO, the best TV series ever......watched it again (every episode) about 3 years ago and still loved it even though I knew what was gonna happen

I was very sad when James Gandolfini died in 2013 - funny how you get attached to certain TV / Movie characters.....you feel like you really know them after seeing them so often.

Glad you're enjoying it :)

E3 of the new x-files was hilarious, fwiw. Orherwise I dont know what to make of the episodes thus far. The first one had some excellent tinfoil slash Zeitgeist (mockery?) moments too but overall it's not been very good quality IMHO to be honest.

I think the way Tony S. plays with his food is funny... he just moves it around and stabs it at least half a dozen times before he actually puts it in his mouth. (Most of the characters seem to do this, actually.)

Didn't know anything about James Gandolfini as an actor before, but I must say he was perfectly suited for this role. The look on his face (as Tony S.) can be hard to read - you don't know whether he's just gonna completely blow up, or whether he's just gonna let things slide.

For me they haven't missed a beat. It's as if the series never ended. The writing is still higher quality than the majority of what's on tv right now and the chemistry between Mulder and Scully is on point as it ever was.

Yes it is very similar in tone to the original series. I thought the first ep of the new series was the weakest but so far so good.
