Betancur, aside from his fail, (lol) showed his strengths today. Although Kelderman looked perfectly fine going up.

The biggest news is that Aru finished on +17 minutes today.

Celebrating while crossing the line because he thought he had won.
Sorry I forgot to tell you guys that it was a rhetorical question. ;)

How's that a fail? He thought he won because he was focused on making time on his rivals. Now, Ryder did fail today.

Betancur's attacks are certainly very impressive. Super explosive kid, maybe the biggest talent for the Ardennes classics. For the real climbs? We'll see.

Betancur is two minutes down on Pozzovivo. Do you think he'll get a free role, or help Pozzo?
I don't think there is a leader role in AG2R because it is out of their reach to win the race. So they are both on their own.

Interviewd by RAI he said he's thinking about the GC. Something like: I'm 6 minutes down but there's plenty of stages to gain time back.

I think Atapuma will be the best in the mountains, and he didn't lose much time by now (I mean, Atapuma could be 6 min better than Majka and Kelderman, or 4 min better than Betancur in the big mountains)

Its pretty hard to say who are the better climber in this race at this point imo. However they are all pretty unproven over the distance, so one bad day will have any of them drop 5-10 minutes easily.

Now we have to prepare for a big battle in the mountains for the winner of this jersey. They both look very good ATM.:)

It's still quite open, Kelderman and even Atapuma are still in with a good chance, which is great to see.

"A good chance" is an overstatement if there ever was one. Majka and Betancur are definitely huge favorites for this now.

Atapuma is over 8 mins behind. Hardly a "good chance". Kelderman melted like butter on a hot summer day. Its between Majka and Betancur really.

Betacur is my bet if he continues as yesterday. He took a little time + bonus seconds on Majka. However, on the MTT Majka might take some time. Also they are both young and might have a real off day, so its really unpredictable which is nice.

Btw I voted Majka backi when the Giro began. While I might believe more a tiny bit more in Betacur now (but its totally open really) I am surprised not more people voted for Majka originally after his performance in the 2012 Vuelta.

I think this deserves to be highlighted just for the sake of it. Think I am hearing a toilet flushing somewhere ;)

snip..

Atapuma can still get back into the game, but team Colombia must throw the GC aspirations aside asap and try and win a stage somewhere. At +12:52 Astana, BMC and Sky will Mr Darwin get into a break.

For Saxo the white is important. I reckon they would chase him down if he was in a break that got to much time.

Majka's looking good at the moment, but after Betancur's performance the last couple days I'm even more sure he can take it. A couple more breakaways like the last few days, maybe grab the bonus seconds for stage wins or podiums and he'll be able to overtake Majka. Majka won't give up without a fight though, we have a good battle ahead of us.

Atapuma could still have a chance of winning it. But he'll need to be extremely lucky, pick the right break that ends up getting the stage by much over 8 minutes, and hope that AG2R and Saxo don't decide to chase. His chances of that aren't too great I would say.

The battle could go either way- both are good.

Majka's form is on the rise clearly, while Betancur may decline over the next week. It's Majka's to lose now.

I just want to spend a few words for Diego Rosa since he wasn't mentioned in this poll.
Very good Giro so far for him. He's not shy of attacking. He was on the move today in extreme conditions, chapeau.

I guess Betancur will take it but I hope for a great battle because there doesn't seem to be a battle for pink

Majka hanging on for now, but betancur is going to take it.

Diego Rosa comes from a MTB background, probably more suited to hilly classics.

Might end up being a harder battle for Betancur than we think.

Appararently Majka had to change bike in the beginning of the climb and then put in an effort to get back to the front. Might have cost his something in the end. But good effort.

Betancur I think will ultimately take it, but Majka won't give up without a fight.
