For those who live in the USA or know the justice system there, i am a little bit concerned now.

My Q: Can Hincapie backpedal now or does it count what he said before the GJ? May Armstrongs mafia (to use Hamiltons words, which i now fully understand) gave death threats to either Hincapie and/or his family. It´s possible, since his whole life/income/companies depend on this.

Thanks upfront

It doesn't matter; the damage is done.

If you're hoping for reforms in cycling, your dream has come true.

As far as a criminal indictment, good luck. I despise Armstrong (not for doping, but for the false hope he inspires in cancer patients), but his legal team are pursuing this line for a reason. They know the majority won't care about cycling and are relying on his heroic status.

He will not be convicted.

You can always recant what you said. The problem is that if there is evidence that what you said in either instance is a lie, you get popped for perjury. It can be done, but it is highly unlikely to happen. Once you spill the beans to the GJ, you have laid your cards on the table. You also don't want to anger the prosecutor because he probably has enough evidence against you to bury you too.

It is finally over. I am shocked!

Geoger Hincapie Tweets

"As for the substance of anything in the "60 Minutes" story, I cannot comment on anything relating to the ongoing investigation."

"I can confirm to you I never spoke with "60 Minutes." I have no idea where they got their information."

"As I've said in the past, I continue to be disappointed that people are talking about the past in cycling instead of the future"

The noise coming from fat Pat is drowned out by the crickets.

He'll have to have a little look to see why the boys weren't caught..... He will be in shock that this could happen.

Now what to do about Landis. This has certainly F'd that little P.R. court case up.

Looking into leaks.

Pats a very, very busy lad.

I think he was kind of ribbing me because I gave an "urban" spelling instead of going out and copying coup de grâce with the accent.

JV, where are you?

No, i wasn´t... I always like your posts. I was not kidding, i really don´t speak french.

Anyway, now i am concerned that GH is backpedaling. May you can give me hope

I don't think GH is backpedalling...maybe just trying to downplay the avalanche. It must be a combo of fright and exhilaration. ..and maybe a bit of shock that it was leaked.

JV...thinking about what he needs to say. The spotlight is on.

AFIK, nobody can backpedal on their GJ testimony in court during a trial. They absolutely risk a perjury charge in that case. Anyone giving key evidence to a GJ knows there is a high probability of having to repeat it in court, because GJs almost always end in indictments. The chance for the "Amstong mafia" to arrange silence has passed.

That's what's so great about this news from 60min, this stuff is coming out in court. IMO, the press will take Armstrong apart, whether or not it's him on trial.

Live by the media, die by the media.....

So let me play devil's advocate. Out of all the **** this country needs to address, the most important thing this prosecutor has to do is go after an entertainer who used performance enhancing drugs (hello, that would be all of the music world wouldn't it?)

This guy is doing nothing more than looking for a head to mount on his wall. It's just like the BS congress enganged in when they hauled baseball players in front of congress to address the terrible problem of drug use in baseball. Again, this is what you bozos do in a country where Wall St. drove us off a cliff, where our health care system is a travesty and our infrastructure is crumbling?

Sorry kids, this is a complete waste of time. Who the **** cares?

Oh and before you say I'm an LA fanboy, please see if you can use the search feature for my posts and read what I think of LA.

I hope he has the spine to do so. He probably feared the hit his career would take if he came out before, but now, others have run the whipping line ahead of him and cleared enough space for him to tell what he knows. Plus, all the cool kids are doing it, and everyone knows how important image is to JV.

Frankie....

When asked about Hincapie, with whom he rode on the national team and professionally for much of his career, Andreu said, “You can’t find a nicer guy, a more trustworthy guy, a more respected person in the peloton. Lance has ripped apart, attacked and shredded anybody that’s said anything against him. I don’t know that that would work against George. Lance has even called him ‘a stand-up guy.’”

Earlier Friday, Andreu told VeloNews that the burden Hamilton carried for years as he denied his own performance enhancing drug use must have been enormous.

“I’m sure it’s mind crushing having to deal with this for such a long time,” said Andreu. “I didn’t go through the process of having to deceive or lie to a lot of people. He’s going through something I never had to deal with. I came out and admitted it and that was hard enough, for sure, and what he’s going through is going to be extremely hard also, especially with the Lance camp.”
