Maybe kilos don't mean the same in south America as they do in Europe

rujano rode the tour 2006 prologue with more than 11 watt per kg! but that was only 10 minutes of course but his 30 minutes tests he did on 8 watt per kg weight.

no rider comes even close, I think 2006 prologue kloden did 10.2 watt per kg weight almost a full watt less than rujano, rujano is physically from a different planet. let's hope in his mind all stays well and motivated so he can win the giro next year

see?you are funny. 11 watts.. you are talking like if could do it (even the 8) when the others are doing 6.

next year..in may it was next stage. lol

at least that 16byear old is growing so we can hope that he will be normal, but you? no way :) but we need you here.

you are aggressive on mostly everything like saying that you hoped that the spectator that caused the crash was seriously hurt.

dont think a lot of people wish for someone to get hurt or die, unless you are a murderer. Im sure the spectator didnt mean it at all and it was all an accident.

Sadly I can't see Cadel winning the Tour. He's a ballsey fighter but has lacked that top end in the high mountains that has ment he has finished 2nd twice. Will he finish top step on the podium? very unlikely Contador and Schleck are better climbers and can limit thier losses in the TT's. But is Cadel the only expected clean rider that could make it on the podium? likely.

Cadel doesn't have the top end in the high mountains to maintain a THREE SECOND advantage on super climbers like Andy, and we saw what Basso can do to Cadel when both are on form in the Giro last year. After stage 13 Evans had 29 seconds on Basso, 8 seconds on Nibali and 1'44 on Scarponi, which he lost in the high mountains.

Also, having the top form now could be a hindrance if everybody else is peaking 2 weeks later for the big stages as Evans may find himself running out of form by that point.

I will concede that he may have made himself a favourite for the 3rd podium slot (maybe even 2nd if Alberto lets it go) but having only 3 seconds on Andy Schleck or Ivan Basso after stage 1... is it really any different than being slightly ahead after a prologue? In fact, he'd expect to have more of an advantage with a prologue.

It's a long way to Paris. He who wears yellow on the CChamps-Élysées will be the winner (provided no lab or court interfers afterwards). Let's hope Dopadors handicap causes a more active Tour than last year.

For Cadel in particular, I hope that he is not a few days too early in great shape, but let's stay tuned.

It's day one.

Yes but his team must be there so he isnt blocked in they need better communication and make sure he dosnt fall off.
Maybe after day 1 they will see he has potential and amend their ways . he need more help to get him through a closed gate.
main problem is there is no one who can go with him when the big move is needed he just has to find it himself.

Uhm, how many times did Cadel Evans gain time early in a GT and even got leader jerseys? More than often.

So it's not the shoe that's on the other foot, it's the shoe on the same foot again. Question is wether he will blow it again in the 2nd/3rd week or not

just a quick reminder that this thread is NOT in the clinic - lets not put it there (and adding doping talk to this thread constitutes a strike)

I think many people think your insane when you post stuff like this. I'm just saying it as I'm the only one who dares to say it :D

No really, you are aggresive. And don't think everyone thinks like you do, because you are wrong.

OP got a little enthusiastic. I'm happy for him, because that's what cycling is about.

This was just the first stage with a finish well suited to Evans. Many people put their money on powerful sprinters(besides Gilbert). So did I, but I also added Evans to the mix. You know he will do well on a finish like yesterday. Tuesday is another day that he can take some time on other GC riders, but it will come down to seconds. They might become very important, but I don't think Evans will be able to follow the first 5 riders on the big mountains. He will lose a lot more time there.

I have to say I did expect Evans to be up there because he's shown the last 2 years he has quite a punch on short hills. That being said it does seem Evans is on good form and I'm happy for him and his fans.

However I don't see him beating Andy or Alberto unless something serious happens to them. But if he can keep the form he appears to have right now going he's a serious contender for the final podium place, which would be a pretty good showing.
