No. Plugge was very honest about it. He said:

The truth is that Cian's ambitions and those of the team began to diverge. At this time, we cannot offer Cian the role and match schedule he believes are essential for his development.

Which matches with what Uijtdebroeks is saying. No need to spread false rumours.
Where does that contradict what I said?

Uijtdebroeks wants to lead a GT and he isn't good enough to lead Visma at a GT.

I just don't get where you got "Uijtdebroeks wants to lead a GT" from. He's smart enough to understand he didn't perform well enough to get leadership status. A free role on the other hand would make sense to me, but I can imagine Visma doesn't want to have riders going for GC on their own. That doesn't work with their vision of "Samen winnen (win together)"

Unless something is lost in translation from the Marca article (which I can't access), this is really bizarre. Apparently Visma wouldn't let Blobloblo ride a GT in 2026. Baffles me if true. You have signed one of the biggest GT talents and can't even give him a free role in the Vuelta. What are they doing? Or do they know something we (and Movistar) don't know about his condition?

when i toggle reader view, i see the entire article: https://www.marca.com/ciclismo/2025...fe-movistar-vine-esconderme-vine-liderar.html

you can also use the archived page to read it: https://archive.ph/NSp3Q

Cian a MARCA
[...]
Cian a MARCA

translated:

Q. What led you to leave Visma and choose to sign for Movistar?

A.
Visma are a huge team, with many Grand Tour victories, but my objectives didn’t align with theirs. I want to fight for the GC in Grand Tours and, although they had ambition for me, it wasn’t planned for now. To be good in the GC I need to race three weeks. I already tried one week, I already made top 10 in La Vuelta 2023, but I want more. That’s where the difference in vision was born. Movistar offered me that from the very first minute.

At Visma they told me I wouldn’t ride a Grand Tour in 2026 and that was the final point
Cian to MARCA
[...]
Q. When did you realise you had to leave Visma to grow as a Grand Tour leader?

A.
At the end of this season, when we talked about next year’s programme. First we solved my physical problems and then we moved on to sport. Visma said it would be difficult for me to ride a Grand Tour in 2026. That was the turning point: our visions no longer matched.

At Visma there was no room for my dreams; at Movistar there is
Cian to MARCA

He makes it clear that he wanted to go for GC in a GT. I'm unsurprised that wasn't in the cards. Yates will rightly lead the third GT, and both he and Vingegaard deserves fully committed helpers, not a spot reserved for someone doing their own race.

How much help did Yates got from his team during the Giro last year? WVA obviously after Finestre and what else?

Movistar is going to be happy with the UCI points from top nineing Giros or Vueltas, their team is a bit of a train wreck

Yea, but is Cian going to pull a Supermán when the team lets Enric Mas ride for himself rather than sit back to protect Cian's ninth place in the Vuelta?

Or can they keep him happy by giving him a tiara and sash to remind him he's the prettiest princess?

I really like this for Cian, I hope it goes well for him. I'd rather see this sort of thing that someone like Almeida wasting his prime years without ever getting a chance to lead the Tour.

Almeida recently explained it in an interview. He knows that 3rd or 4th is the best possible result for him there and then he'd rather be part of the winning team as a dom than a leader in some other. Besides, a lot less pressure if you're a in the team of Pogacar

And probably a share of a a lot of prize money each year as well. I assume that someone like Pogacar will forfeit all his prize money to his team mates like tradition dictates?

I think Almeida earns enough that prize money doesn't really matter to him. But maybe he has a nice contract bonus for being on a GT winning team.

Cian as always does set his own goals very high. Its attractive and if you succeed then there is a high reward. On the other hand the Risk of failure is higher. What do you think is realistic? If all goes well between 5th and 10th?

That would be a great result, but it's hard to gauge his level because he hasn't done a GT for 2 years now. Based on his 1-week stage performance in 2025, I wouldn't say he's able to finish top 10.

I think that a top 10 should be a realistic goal - but I'm also positive that Uijtdebroeks himself aims higher than that.

I do think that his level towards the end of the season is good enough to top 10 and perhaps even finish around 7th. His results in stage races perhaps weren't that impressive, but it was also in races that didn't suit him very well. He was very strong in the Italian one day races - much stronger than his results show.
