161. Peleton - Newbie July fans who haven't leant the correct spelling

Peronally, i don't think this proves jack s*** in relation to doping. I never did. I don't think it proves the peleton clean, or anything like it - the only point I was trying to make, in the Walsh thread where this stuff originated was that a perception of a slower peleton MAY have been a factor for Walsh's more 'generous' treatment of Froome than Armstrong. No more, no less.

164: Clenbuterol - tainted food / food supplement. Used in conjunction with the age old excuse "must've been something I ate". Bit like puking after doing a JTL - couldn't possibly be the alcohol, must have been something I ate.

British units of alcohol always confuses me. Why can't the EU make a standard that is used across the continent? :(

1 British unit = 10ml of alcohol
1 Danish unit = 15 ml of alcohol.

How would that be a bad thing? Common standards are a good thing. I don't think any nation loses anything by having the same unit of alcohol as another nation.

Ironic? Maybe. A mistake? Nope. Basic trollkraft? Yes.

And it worked...

Actually i was on about the misspelt leant not the peleton/peloton, but its still a good entry.

I'm not bothered either way, but am surprised they are different - most weights and measures are harmonised.

I know that. I was referring to leant as well ;)

Edit: It's not exactly an uncommon technique used by thehog.

Soon enough Britain will start using KMs just like they do in Europe. Watching the cycling coverage on TV must be infuriating, how far to the end of the stage?

I can only understand peoples height in feet and inches, but for smaller measurements I have to use centimetres. If it's not someones height it needs to be in metres, unless it's more than a km, then it needs to be in miles. small weights are in grammes, big weights are kgs, but a persons weight must be in stone (the pounds is a meaningless number). I know what a pint is, but any other liquid measurement must be in mL/L to make sense.

Thank you British education system....

167: I Can Find 10 Riders To say you doped too

Typical used response, when you realize the jig is up. Also used as a deterrant to cover up you knowing they know you doped.

I went to school in 1966, was initially taught in imperial, including money, then in the late 1960s and early 70s we started to be taught in metric, decimal currency was about to arrive. What this means is that I cook in metric, use miles when I'm cycling/driving, and when in France mentally work out what any distance sign means in imperial. When building bookcases and stuff around the house I use a mixture of feet, inches, metres, and mms. Height is normally in feet and inches, except when I'm working out my bicycle fit when it's in metres and cms. And when watching cycling coverage on TV I'm constantly multiplying everything by 5/8s.

168. Peddle. Selling something.

169. Pedal. What you do on a bicycle.

170. Getting Peddle and Pedal confused. When you are overselling something at the Clinic. Please get these right.

With acknowledgement to mewmew, who tried in vain to get this across in the - with further acknowledgement to the spat over peleton and peloton above - 'How to Spell Peloton Correctly' thread.

That particular thread notably started by someone currently banned.

171. Being Currently Banned. Sometimes useful, sometimes confusing. Like anything other rule enforcement (see also doping), receives more attention for alleged over and under use than it does for the vast majority of proper uses.

Like the title says, it's PELOTON.

Not "peleton" or any other derivation. Is it really so difficult?

Am I being overly pedantic? Is it too much to ask for just this one, single word to get the dignity it so rightly deserves?

The double "e" version sets off my spellchecker, as it should. Is this not the case for other forumites?

Mods, maybe misspellings of this particular word could be added to the "banned words" list? That way the entire forum wouldn't have to be embarrassed by their usage?

Or maybe institute a mandatory ban to anyone that can't spell this one particular word correctly? I would suggest a punishment of three weeks, to coincide with any subsequent Grand Tour that follows such a transgression. ...snipped a smilie to meet with current rules...

To be clear:
