Looks like no Omloop on Eurosport (or K-B-K). Other than Sporza+Belgian proxy server combo, where else can we watch this? One of my favourite races.

Was it ever on ES? You can watch them on some dodgy Belgium stream.

Never used to be, but had heard rumours Eurosport was upping its cycling coverage this year so I was hopeful. Alas, no. Skiing and more skiing. Maybe by more cycling they mean upping coverage of a flat stage of the Tour of Poland from 2 hours to 3 hours. They started doing Strade Bianche from last year so was hoping that meant more early-season one day races.

thats a pity really would be nice have some early season coverage.

On Sean i think the great thing is because he almost did it all, green jersey winner but also a grand tour winner he understands cycling from both viewpoints and not long out of the game that things have changed too much, Pity hes not more open about the past of cycling

about his own past in cycling? what's the point for him? He retired just before the EPO generation but obviously he was no saint in his generation.

Still view him as a legend though. I bought my Junior (under 18) Tommassini bike off him and it won me a National medal. I love the man and I think he's tactically always spot on. The sport hasn't changed too much and he knows the Classics roads better than everyone. Great commentator. And Eurosport nearly got rid of him last year, or so I was led to believe.

gives us all a chance to learn more Flemish anyway for all the streamed Belgian Classics :)

I love the Sporza commentary. I always thought I'd retire to San Sebastian. I might just change that to Flanders somewhere !

At the same time, this is the height of the skiing season, with the Biathlon World Championships going on at present and the Nordic Worlds to follow in the next week or two. By comparison, the Tour of Oman is a pre-season tune up race which hasn't historically had live coverage.

I'd read it as meaning they're providing more coverage of races in the height of cycling season. From November to March, wintersports will always dominate the scheduling. It comes comparatively cheap and that's when the important events are, and for other sports that they fill a lot of programming time with, like MotoGP, WTCC and cycling, it's the off-season. Eurosport didn't used to show Trentino until last year. That's more what I'd expect; it's in mid-April, when people WILL be thinking of cycling. Anything pre-Omloop is pre-season, and abstracts is about all you'll get from them.

Rather bizarre highlights of Stage 3 from the Algarve just there on Eurosport. I mean to say, who opens a highlights programme with footage of the winner crossing the line. I already knew the result, but I'm sure there were people who had tried to avoid finding out the outcome during the day and then they had it spoilt by Eurosport (or possibly the host broadcaster) in the first seconds.

The Algarve coverage has been abysmal. 1st stage the picture quality seemed upscaled from one of those low resolution betting site streams and the sound was processed through a dalek. At least Harmon's commentary was added cleanly. The picture quality was slightly better for stage 2, but for both finishes they had picked a terrible view down the finishing straight. Not Eurosport's fault, but whoever cobbled it together in Portugal.

It said commentary by 'David Hendon' as well. They've had a nightmare really. Eurosport clearly struggling for early season form...

Brian smith during strade bianchi yesterday talking about how.it.will be hard for.schleck to pull off good.form.in July this year like he has done before because "all the top riders have improved on the back of what bradley wiggins did last year"

Oh lord. And the seasons only began.

Eurosport got it right

Rob Hatch and Magnus Backstedt doing a really good job commentating on Tirreno Adriatico on Eurosport.

Hatch, UNLIKE HARMON actually knows some facts and information about the race and riders. Even lesser known riders, Hatch can give some info on, which teams the rider has ridden with, even off the bike gossip.

He has obviously followed cycling for many years and is on a par with his pro co-commentator.

Eurosport have at last got it right. Pity they have still got Kirby shouting in the final 3 kms, in his sad rendition of the Grand National....about the 'Cannondale four' - God !!

Dan Lloyd also doing an excellent job - trying to salvage the train wreck that Kirby creates.

I agree: I thought they did an ok job of the chaos of stage 6 when you couldn't know who was where....I'm sure if they were adding the commentary afterwards, they would have done it differently.

But they were a bit slow in picking up the danger to Froome which was staring us in the face.

I love when Kirby and Harmon go on for a bit agreeing with each other about something likely and Harmon asks Kelly what he thinks - silence and bit of an intake of breath and ´I don´t see it that way .....

good stuff wonder how Harmon, big Maggie and Kelly would go together

Kelly probably counts to ten to settle the impulse to vomit.

Declan Quigley

Milan San Remo with DECLAN QUIGLEY and Magnus Backstedt on Sunday - what a fantastic commentary it was !!

I was listening and watching glued to the race...how awesome was it to have informative commentary.

Why why why is he not replacing Harmon and / or Kirby !!
