Wow, well, next year's Tour will be Schlecklets for the losing. No way Wheelsucker Evans can come close to him, hopefully there will be other challengers.

After beating Cancellara in the final tt a couple years ago, I kinda figured it would happen someday and I thought I'd be happy since I've never liked the guy.

But it makes me sad. Not Landis getting caught after his win sad, but sad.

No media outlets had a clue about it and I texted it in to SEN Sports radio and they said they had unofficial reports from a text that Alberto Contador has tested positive.

If i wasnt drunk atm i would probably be very upset about this. I knew Contador was doping duh, but what i dont like is more scandals for our thing. Contador was a rider who might just could have become well known across the world. THat rarely happens in our thing. Now, its over. Shame really.

Come on people let's learn lessons from the past. In 99 when pantani was banned at the giro people said "why would he dope with the race won?". Now people say "why wasn't it masked?", or why would he only take it once during the race? Wake up. A positive means someone has messed up somewhere, Contador wouldn't use something that is easy to detect unless it was masked, so we can assume he was using it masked but he was caught out somehow or someone messed up. Just like in 99 when Pantani was tested 15 minutes or so early and then didn't have time to dilute his blood.

So the UCI tells him that he's positive a month ago but we the actual fans would have been none the wiser had he not decided to announce a press conference.

Not cool, Pat.

Agreed, dodgy processes....

These tests take soooooooooooo long!

If this is an accident then why didn't he declare. It seems funny that when Lance tested positive due to the saddle cream, people on here have said it is a cover up for epo. When Contador tests positive for Clenbuterol it is an accident.

You guys have such double standards

I think there is a reasonable chance he will get off. There is a grey area on the issue of contaminated meat. The UCI have allowed him a month to prepar a PR defense so I don't think they are too keen to go after him.

Gob smacked by this one, the cynical in me says Armstrongs goodbye pressie to the Peleton.

It does not seem like a drug anyone would use in the context of the tour. Clenbuterol is a big hitter in terms of Asthma and additionally it should have shown up in other tests ie the following day because him and Andy would have been tested at the top of the Tourmalet. If it was found in anything other than a trace level then that counts out food contamination.

Either way, I suspect he's bolloxed.

Maybe he's going to turn grass for a reduced sentence, a three month ban for nailing the Armstrong/Bruyneel cell door firmly shut!!
