Seems like Cookson/Sky/bc are more interested in throwing JTL under the bus and distancing themselves from him. Looks like they could learn from Astana on how to be transparent and anti doping

It's a good observation. I don't remember Sky asking JTL to speak with the CiRC either?

And interesting to note that some resort to threats and getting personal when they've lost a grip on the situation, Cookson included.

JTL kept a dignified silence during the process but once suspended Brailsford and co. stuck the boots in.

Under the bus, comes to mind.

I don't recall Endura inviting JTL to go to CIRC......it was an Endura problem after all........Sky just did what they had to do.......fire somebody who'd lied about doping on another team

Really, 'Sky just did what they had to do', well what about Servais Knaven?

He still works for Sky, why, he doped? What is different about JTL and Knaven?

Wonder if Cookson has called Leinders to come talk to the CIRC yet?

I'd like to hear more about the letters received within team sky in relation to the passport.

Where does JTL specify the bolded part?

Answer: He didn't.

There are other riders out there that have had these letters, it’s been kept private, and then the letters have gone away, quite high-profile people actually

I'm still quite curious to know who he's referring to though.

True! LOL!

Maybe they just want to concentrate on Lance, because doped started and stopped with him

If Leinders did come along he could update the CIRC on saddle sores

Officially Knaven doesn't have a violation and hasn't confessed and presumably has signed the non-doping pledge, so maybe Brailsford is playing it that way.

I don't know why he is, I wouldn't because it just leaves him open to accusations, etc. but this is cycling we're talking about after all.

Which is hysterical considering this about the 1998 TVM TdF squad:
Every rider tested positive for several banned substances including steroids and growth hormones. At least four used erythropoietin (EPO), which enhances the oxygen-carrying capacity of the blood. Three others were declared positive for amphetamines and a fourth for cannabis. The report said the riders used powerful "home- made cocktails" of banned substances.

Servais Knaven and Steve de Jongh both being among those notable names. ;)

Maybe Brailsford is just another same old generation DS in the same old sport we are used to. I am sure he knows Knaven's past, but since no one questions Brailsford about it, why do anything? Old generation never did anything about doping or dopers till they were caught or became liabilities.

Course he knows. Why do you think he employed them? Do you think Lenders, Barry, Yates, Julich, Rogers were employed by accident?

he cut down on his own salary so clearly he has to cover for that somehow.

He did? When?

I remember him accepting a lower salary than McQuaid got, but don't recall him actually cutting anything he was being paid. Unless you mean British Cycling paid him more and so getting the top job at UCI was actually a step down?

Letters

Jonathan Tiernan-Locke:

"There are other riders out there that have had these letters, it’s been kept private, and then the letters have gone away, quite high-profile people actually."

Stefano Feltrin (Tinkoff-Saxo):

"We’ve seen that abnormalities in the Passport can be interpreted and explained in different ways and it’s now a question of what level of explanation you need from the rider and what level of uncertainty you need to accept in the process."

Don't engage with it, Mark.

Right from day one they had the position of Cookson being worse than McQuaid and Verbruggen and then proceeded to go on a crusade to WANT that proved in the aftermath. Usually you get the facts at hand because the facts is what drives the debate and helps us to have a more clear cut viewpoint. Minds were made up before any of that happened and why I don't take this thread serious whatsoever.

Just look at the recent story with the women's cycling kit. That was spun around here as Cookson being ignorant on doping because he spoke about it. This when speaking on it isn't one bit mutually conclusive to tackling doping.

I know Gooner....I know...but on the plus side I've put paid to Hoggie's efforts to try and spin Cookson's comments as threats to JTL....and also pointed out Hoggie's foolishness when he tried to claim that Cookson had 'invited the Iglinsky's to CIRC......it's been a bad day for the Hoggie.

After reviewing the facts I have come to the conclusion I was right about Cookson all along. I have yet to see any evidence that point in the direction of change at the UCI.

And I am going to guess that the next UCI president is going to be exactly the same as Cookson again. Thats how these things work.

Dont be fooled by his sweet words and PR campaigns.

he took a lower salary. no secret there. no conspiracy.
actually it's one of the few great things Cookson has done since becoming president and you're trying to take even that tidbit of credit away from him? get your priorities straight.

thanks for expanding. you clearly know the details much better than i do.
wasn't it his own idea to cut down on the salary?
at least he managed to present it like that.

thats like a limited hangout. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Limited_hangout

if he takes the pay cut to be "seen to be taking a paycut", without accessing his motives, and what that pay cut will infringe on his material circumstance, this is just being a gullible peon. not sure if this qualifies as a kantian imperative, but for me, his end is to be seen as doing the a magnanimous act. not for purpose of acting this way for its inherent worth. Not sure on john key the NZ pm, ex-MErils banker on the street. He does not need the money, one of the wealthier kiwis. ofcourse, he was mining this act for his political cache. does he have a blind trust? Texpat? emmigrants and immigrants and immigrant.
