Yesterday he was held up by a crash, otherwise he would have been in the front group, so I don't know if his shape is really that terrible.maltiv said:

Anyway the final group wasn't that big, just because one can sprint nicely uphill doesn't make said rider a hilly rider. I don't think he has great shape to be honest.

This. I mean losing time to Bruno Pires on a stage like this... I expect a disastrous TT, below top50. What's up with him? Does he even know what he's aiming for? .When on podium be gracious, you come across as an arrogant grumble bum!
.If you don't want the jersey...we understand...just give it away graciously.
.We know you and Sky are doing a full dress rehearsal for the Tour...but you can give the break a bit of leeway....who knows they might even be kind enough to take that damned jersey off you hands (and you might save EBH for the Tour).
.Then as per rehearsal you can drive the peloton as you chase breaks on behalf of the holder of that bloody jersey!!!
But above all, smile when on podium, be polite and allow time for a relaxed presentation.

I'm glad to see that both Sanchez and Martin started and finished the stage, even if they were pootling about with the backmarkers.

Preparations for Tour I would guess. Same thing Sky does with EBH. Both stages suited him okay but in both he worked a lot, same with Gilbert with him possibly working for Evans and planning tactics etc. how it will look overall at the Tour, plans etc.
