Froome is the the favourite for the Tour imo. His victory never looked in doubt in any of his tour wins, and he looked like the strongest rider in 2012. I'll take 5 years of the Tour over one week of the Dauphine as an indicator of his form.

Porte deserved that :(
Why?
Fugslang did an amzing job, but he had 1 minute headstart thanks to Kwait. That ride from Porte was something special, feel bad for him.
Respect to Porte. He deserved it, but so did Fuglsang taking the initiative from far out today as well. Great team play from Astana also.

Pretty soft from Benoot and Oomen. It's one thing not helping Porte but they didn't help themselves either.

Aye, the Froome group, would have served themselves a lot better riding together than leaning 100% on Froome like they did, especially given they were all at risk from Porte returning from behind.....

Great ride by Fuglsang, very happy for him (although I'd have loved for Richie to win). Great rides by Aru, Martin and Meintjes too. Froome also rode well, but proved he was not the strongest and should have been more tactical in the hope that Fuglsang would help.

A pity that Porte lost it today but reports that the Porte Era has ended are highly premature.
What odds did the market have for Porte to win the Dauphiné after yesterday? :p

It was a strong ride by Richie. He's a great rider. I will remember the Porte Era with fondness.

the Skybots make him the favorite but if Porte keeps his form they'll also benefit him by limiting and chasing down attacks

should be a pretty boring 3 weeks watching the Sky train kill stage after stage

Porte made one serious mistake in letting Fuglsang up the road and focusing on Froome.
We might note that Porte got *** all help from anyone. How far did he have to ride out front?

Froome still has a good bit of time to improve his form, as Fuglsang said in his Interview its possible his form is too good at the moment and he won't be able to hold it through 3 weeks of the tour, same would apply to Porte. Stage 5 of the Tour will answer a lot of the early questions in just under 4 weeks time!

So Porte lost the GC due to Froome blocking him in the sprint yesterday.....

No he didn't. Had Porte won that sprint then Fuglsang still wins GC by 6 seconds. Or is it 2 seconds? Either way, that sprint ended up not being decisive.

Congratulations to Fuglsang. Porte can take heart in the fact that he outrode Froome, Contador and Valverde.

Yes, Time Bonuses did it, but they all know that they exist. I wonder what would have happened if the TT win had provided a Time Bonus - Porte and Fuglsang would be equal. 2 wins for Fuglsang maybe being the tie-breaker?

More importantly, great legs. One-of-a-lifetime legs.

If Porte takes time off Froome early then Froome can use his team and go crazy. Froome needed another decent climbing Dom today for that final climb after attacking all day, he will have that in the Tour.

Yes, I think the strength of the Sky team may well prevent Porte from crowning the early phase of his era with a Tour victory. We'll see

A controlled race would suit Porte if all he has to do is attack with 1km to go

what Froome has shown countless times is that without a dominant team controlling the race he is very beatable he also had much more team support this week then Porte

and if Porte takes time on Froome he'll just wheel suck the Sky train and follow Froome's late attacks , it's not like Sky does anything else at the tour
