I'm willing to accept the knee injury as a factor, but not the Giro.
No way you'd go with entering the Tour if you didn't think you'd still be strong enough after the Giro. If menchov can top ten in both in the same year then there's no reason Contador couldn't do better - far better.

Lol, compare the routes will ya ;)

you can tell how cool they are because they post all year round. the coolest make 50-100 posts a day and are very concerned with how many posts they have. because that's how you know how knowledgeable they are.

You are welcome to shoot me if i post that many times a day. These peeps have obviously not got much better things to do with their day than post on a (cycling or other) forum.

I don't care who you are or when you joined, but if you're going to say Samu is barely capable of a top 10 expect to be challenged, because that's stupid.

Maybe you should reread what i said before you post crass comments..

Samu will outclimb the Schlecks. And he'll gain time on them in stage 16, stage 17 and the final time trial. And FS will bonk at some point like he always does and of course Cuddles will bonk, probably on Plateau de Beille. Samu will lose the Tour by under 2 minutes.

You - "Maybe top 10 but no way podium"
Ryo & me - he was 4th last year
You - "He got lucky"

What exactly have I missed?

You have not missed anything in this post but you said barely wheras i said maybe top 10. I probably should have put 'more likely' instead of maybe to avoid any confusion.

I am however being objective (and realistic) wheras you both seem to be some kind of Samuel Sanchez lovers. Not that i particularly have a problem with that:D.

and perhaps you should tone it down a bit.

you started this ****ing match by asking if Ryo was on crack when he predicted a podium place for Samu. not only is it against forum rules (attacking individual posters), but it does not exactly make one inclined to answer you civilly.

i really don't care when you joined but could do without your rudeness.

and, for the record, i am with Ryo and hrotha regarding Samu.

can you guys form your own thread about who is the best internet poster?

at some point this had been a contador thread. iirc.

seriously. who wants to read two pages of you guys doing this. pointless.

Nah this is the intrawebz, as soon as there's an opportunity to transform an interesting discussion into a ****ing match it must happen! It's da rulez!

That being said how about we get back to the actual discussion, we got a whole day before we get closer to a real answer lets see how well we can predict it together.

I dislike Samu. Ask the Hitch.

Your "maybe" means you don't think he's particularly likely to do it. My "barely" conveys the same. Also, you didn't explain how he got lucky last year.

I don't think I personally attacked him just asked jokingly if he was on crack. Obv a lot of Sammy lovers out there!

Maybe you should start your own arguments rather than join others?

i am actually reading this thread as it concerns Contador.

interesting that there are so many votes saying No -- that he can't still win this tour... lots of haters out there.

i don't know if he will, but i certainly won't say that he can not.

Contador's big mistake was to try and win the Giro and Tour in the same year. Only two riders (Pantani & Indurain) have won the double in the past 20 years and neither had the same number and depth of challengers for the tour.

so what? one's tougher than the other, but why would you do both if you know you'll be far too cooked to make a proper go of the second?
I don't doubt that it'd be a factor, but no where near as much as what people are making it out to be.

To be a legend. And he didn't know how his legs would be after the Giro. He didn't even know he would be able to start in the Tour.

I speak the truth. Contador hasn't been dominant in a TdF time trial in at least 2 years. Please keep trying to add something constructive to the forum.

*** edited by mod *** He hasn´t even ridden that second time-trial after the disastrous ITT (where he proved out a bike) last year.

How is that a mistake? Given that they´ve hinted he will try the triple some day it is not bad trying out.

As i have said before, this time is for future references.

and that was a really great point. they still have their main objective of trying to win, tho.
