Rog is becoming the new Contador with all his crashes

It's probably way too soon for me to say this (& he'll feel like sh*t right now), but from a glass half full perspective I'd suggest he was actually very lucky with that crash. It could have been way worse. Like on a spectrum of Beloki & Froome 'worse'. As long as it's nothing career threatening I'd say he lives to fight another day, whether it's literally today or maybe just next season. We know this because there was nothing more devastating than losing the chance to contest the TdF again last July, but he still came back in this Vuelta & was building form again. No introspection, no self-doubt, no second guessing his own ambition.

One thing is for sure IMO: he won't change. It's pedal to the metal No Risk No Glory all the way & next time he'll win.

Belgium homerism in Roglič thread is really something else. As much as I like Remco, he's far from healthy top 3 GC riders in peloton right now. But he'll get there and hopefully provide good fight against Vinge and Pog in next years.

It's kind of scary how many top cyclist never came back to their potencial after bad crash. Roglič crashes too much, but somehow he doesn't get hurt to the point of no return.

Uh, why would one suggest that? It was on an uphill stretch. He sure could have broken a collarbone or something like that but he would have had to be extremely unlucky to have a career-altering crash there...

Your sentence may lose something in translation but I don't think Remco or any GC guy would cheat and didn't suggest he did. But if the officials confirm they were not shown the bike in original condition they could judge that the 3km would not apply. If his team and mechanics don't understand that then the fault would be with them. Rules iz rules.
Then it is indeed strange the rule was applied. Although I have not read anywhere that the officials said they weren't shown the bike.

Look at that crash from the spectator's video in real time. It was a hard shunt but he looked to have landed partially on the rear wheel of the group's end. That's the only way I could imagine he'd scrape up the inside of his right arm. That would be unlucky for sure to break something worse but it was a hard landing.

Week 3 has been 1 stage so far. So claiming he is the strongest of GC riders in week 3 is certainly interesting. Especially considering his nearest rival in GC didn't get the chance to show how good he was (or not). Furthermore, two days ago he certainly didn't look to be the strongest of the GC riders at all. But of course we need to fuel the ''if only'' hypothesis, i understand.

Anyway, considering he has supposedly acknowledged to not care about 2nd or 3rd place, i hope he makes a sensible decision and only continues if he feels he can and is strong enough to contest the Vuelta. If he knows he can not win anymore, and he really doesn't care about finishing 2nd, he should not take any risks with his injuries, especially considering he was still recovering from his old injuries. So if he continues, i'd assume he feels the crash will not hamper him to fight for the win.
Nice trap ;) But in reality, Roglič's fanbase will always have "excuse" after this crash just as Remco's fanbase had one after his (I mean Vuelta but stands for Lombardia as well).

Try using another perspective: If Rogič believes he is injured but still good enough for 3rd, then with some luck and/or Remco having bad week 3, he could be good enough for the win. Worth a shot. If he is good enough for podum, He will probably continue.

But me personally, I don't think he's good enough for podium now...

If I remember correctly, this was actually a liitle bit if a „meme“ situation yesterday:

Primoz attacks - next picture - Remco stops and raises his arm. :)

Remco: „Don‘t want to ride this pace… I now stop, change bikes, and softpedal to the finish line!…“. ;)

As was said previously in this thread, he needs a re-think & a reset. Going in a new direction, say Ineos, could be good, maybe help him find some luck. Given that Carapaz was supposedly making more than him, the switch shouldn't be too complicated.

Ps: Re Tratnik being hired as his ally -- who cares. Tratnik is a good cyclist, and a good acquisition independently of Roglic. I doubt they are too close, living in different parts of the world.

I said he was wheelsucking. Which he was, or do you wish to contest that?
Strong and weak forms of the term wheelsucking:

Weakest form: Riding behind another rider. Ergo, Evenepoel wheelsucked Vervaeke. Mas wheelsucked De la Cruz, when the latter was pulling the trio.

Middle form: Refusing to cooperate and take turns (when asked to). It's a bit muddy to what extent asking has to be explicit. Alaphilippe wheelsucked Sagan in Sanremo '17. Contador wheelsucked Froome in the 2014 Vuelta.

Strong form: Refusing to cooperate while relying on others to cooperate with you. Relying here means in order to achieve your goals. Typical example is not taking turns in a breakaway group when you depend on others to hold the chasers off.

Strongest form: Refusing to cooperate when that is self-sabotaging. A tactical failure mode forced by habit or misinterpretation of the race situation. When it's clear that Gilbert won't be able to catch Kwiatkowski and you still won't take a turn, even when you are the rider with the strongest sprint who would profit the most from him being caught. Also: Valverde

This is good news in my book. Sit down, heal up, return. I can't bear watching him bruised and in pain every day and see others flying by.

That's true, but the dissapointment is most of all because it really sucks for Rogla to go out of this Vuelta like this. He has had enough crashes that effected his GT performances last 2 years so I'm just gutted for him.
Also it's a big dissapointment for the race, because Roglic was slowly eating into Evenepoels lead and the upcoming days could've been full of attacks. If he would've succeeded we will never know now.

Staying on your bike is also part of racing though and this crash was his own fault. Still I'm gutted for him.
