I know, and I assume you don't think the relative strength between the top riders has shifted the least since April 2021 where, for the record, Pogi was beaten because he tried to ride for McNulty on the last stage.

Had McNulty ridden for Pogi (and the split on the descent somehow had not happened), then Vingegaard would have won the race.

EDIT: Come the last stage, Pogi was already defeated by the Jumbo duo, and had UAE fully ridden for him, he still wouldn't have won.

Slovenians having a staring contest and Vingegaard exploiting that?

Maybe, but the point still stands that Rog and Pog haven't met since then and it's lame to cling to a race from four years ago to a quite delusionary point that Rog is still better than Pog at one-week races when that obviously is not the case.

This.
Roglic barely wins most of his one week stage races recently. Compare that with the way Pogacar, or even Vingegaard, wins them and I think Roglic is the 3rd best one week racer.
He happens to win a lot because he barely clashes with any of them.

No, he was ahead of Rogla in GC before the stage, and I assume your hypothetical scenario is without the split on the descent where Rogla distanced Pogi and Vingegaard?

Nevermind, I forgot the GC standings ...

Then Rogla would have won the race in any scenario, you're right.

The last one week stage race Pogacar didn't win was in 2021.
That says even more.

Algarve is only Foia climb and the TT with Malhao at the end. If Roglic is in good shape he can beat Jonas (although he said he won’t be competitive there but I doubt that).

In Volta Primoz will be at the level of 2023 or even better I think, but in that parcours it will be very hard to defeat the dane. Still can be a better battle between the two than most think.

Well he's been (admittedly one race per year). And he destroyed every single one.
I have very little doubt that he'd win every race Roglic won sunce 2021. Well, maybe except for Dauphiné 2022 (eventually).
Vingegaard would've won most of them as well tbh.

I like Remco as a rider and i enjoy when Rogla races against him, still, it became a bit tiresome, on how the narrative was that there is only Rogla vs Remco and Pogi vs Jonas, on where it comes to relevant rivalries. Furthermore Rogla was in a rather difficult position at Visma, due to team forcing Jonas ahead. Fandom, obviously not the Rogličes one, for as far as i remember always pushing other paper favourites to front, only in the pre season that is, the road took care of the rest.

So all in all personally i am looking forward to some Rogla vs Jonas rivarly, it should be grand.
