Dutch TV has shown plenty of people who aren't satisfied with the state RSA is in... They're just not dissatisfied with the WC coming to South Africa.

So
Dutch tv has not shown people in RSA who are dissatisfied with the WC.
These people exist
therefore
Dutch tv has not shown people dissatisfied with/ hurt by an event they are presenting even though these people do exist.

Thanks for making my point for me.:D

Aussies played well given the circumstances. Neill played like he was 4 years younger. The whole squad played their best. That is what I wanted to see. Glad I did. Very pleased with their efforts. Maybe they're not what other countries expect to see but we here in Australia are impessed. Great job.

Referee needs to answer a number of questions. I'll let other football forums ask those questions. Good game. Come on Germany! Smash Ghana. Seriously, who here thinks Ghana are going to mount a challenge? Australia were a man down for 65 minutes. Ghana had around 23-25 shots and scored how many times?

Oh and Pim Verbeek redeemned himself. He did a very, very good job and put on the best team we have. Well done Pim. Oh and Moondance...Ghana could beat Germany and Australia thrash Serbia...that could be an outcome. Realistically Australia have to win, get at least 3 goal difference over Serbia and have Germany trounce Ghana by the same margin. Hmmmnnn. We've got about the same chance as France of going through.

Well, I guess if you've decided to be cynical in advance, regardless of whatever presents itself, I wont bother.

The position of the arm was unnatural. The rules of the game state that a "natural" position for the arm is down, parralel to the body. I hate to break it to you but by the rules of the game Kewell was in error. It's not opinion. In a goal line situation there is no leeway afforded, and rightfully so.

God I hope I never get you as a lawyer. Look at both parts of his arm. One part is parallel to his body the other isn't. The shoulder to elbow is parallel with his body, the elbow to fingers are moving. It hit the part parallel of his arm, the upper part. There is an inconsistency right there. Go figure. I thought someone studying law was taught to question. My legal teachers told me to always question, why aren't you? I'll agree to disagree. There is nothing more I can say. Most people over here will disagree...not that it matters. Overall I wouldn't pass this ref, he was too inconsistent. But what can one expect from an Italian?

Why are you making this personal? I dont know whether pictures but his arm was clearly away from his body. It doesn't matter whether the lower part of the arm was down. It hit his arm, which was not down, and blocked the ball from entering the goal. That is always red.

I've made my points. No professional ref who sees what the world saw would do otherwise.

They are honest, you're just determined to see otherwise. They have shown people who are skeptical that they will see any of the money that RSA will rake in, and that its all a corrupt shithole (both FIFA and the government).

My personal reading of the situation is that these people have an axe to grind with the government (and some have perfectly acceptable grievances, as an example those who have been forcibly relocated as a result of stadium placement, which is unacceptable). But these people are not dissatisfied solely with the fact that the WC is there. Thats my opinion, and not something that has been force-fed to me by overeagar journalists.

I never said your opinion was wrong or that it has been force fed by overeagar journalists.
You at least understand that there is a bad side to fifa (and trust me that is a huge step up from what im used to dealing with)

My opinion is simply different
That there will inevitably those who are upset with the world cup. NOT because they dont like football, but because the money diverted to the creation of stadiums and hotels, could have gone to help them, or in more extreme situations suffered from the cuts in healthcare that were deemed neccessary to build the stadiums.

My opinion is based on evidence but i can not possibly know what the view of every single south african is so maybe i am right or maybe i am wrong.

I was being sarcastic with the lawyer bit. His lower arm was away from his body, but it was already there when the ball shot, it moved slightly. I was only trying to cover all bases. I think there is a case for both perspectives. Hence I said yellow card because it hit the upper part of his arm. For a deliberate handball, why didn't it touch the moving part of his arm. I thought as you are studying law, you might see the point in questioning. Law is about interpretation...there were too many unknowns for me to agree with the decision. It wouldn't matter if an Italian did the same thing, I'd consider it harsh. Lets hope a similar incident doesn't occur this WC, because it could make the Italian ref's decision look bad. Which sadly, is what this WC will be about. Referee decisions.

How are Aussies taking this? Wait till the majority wake up. They'll be ****ed. Worse the ref is Italian. Hint, don't come down under any time soon and advertise that fact. You'll risk copping a hiding. I've already seen the major football website commentary and the fans are not happy. Few agree with you. Most say yellow card because it wasn't unnatural. Yes, they mentioned the rules. As I said...interpretation and you are deadset wrong about all referees. You cannot speak for them and given they are an inconsistent group only solidifies my point. Not every ref would have given a card, but this one did. As I said, it's too late now, but he should answer questions. I'm off, I've got better things to do than debate technicalities. I hope Ghana get thrashed next game and another African country misses the top 16. Sending the WC to SA is a joke in itself. Put bums on seats or don't apply. Simple. Looks bad. Almost worse than the Beijing Olympics.

Shattered...

Never had any hope leading into the game, but was impressed by our efforts. The elation was so short lived unfortunately. Was definitely a penalty but shocked that it was a red (considering Harry didn't move his arm at all once the ball left the foot). Hope we are gallant against the Serbs.

(Will read comments tomorrow, not in the right state of mind atm).

How does Rooney feel now about those freaking stupid 'arise, Sir Wayne' Nike ads? Turned out a bit different, huh?

The headlines are now more like 'Sod Off, Chav'

Cameroonn 1-0. If they win the Netherlands wont be able to play their 2nd team in the final group game. And cameroon are good. Could be interesting final day of group games.

It's what Elia does. Robben has different qualities, as a left-footed right forward.

Didnt you rip wc 2006 finalists apart in euro 08 by playing robben on the left and having him cross it in all the time?

Yes we did, but he's switched to the right at Bayern (and at Real before that), because it's very hard to defend a lefty at that side. Most of the time he moves toward the penalty box and shoots on goal.

And Rommedahl scores! Excellent match for him.
