As this is a 2nd offence it should be at least 4 years.

FFS.

Wasn't he cleared by the Luxemburg doping agency in 2008 ? So technically this is a first upheld offense ?

Unless he significantly helped the authorities, it should be 2 years, and that is the basis WADA could appeal on.

He has not shown the route to claim under 10.4 or 10.5, that he bore no fault or negligence.

Why that would have been within the first 12 months anyway, I think what annoys people about the contador ban was he was riding through it.

That was during the first 12 months. I would have much preferred he got a shot at the tour but since they can't give that back and the punishment is 1 year so long ad you "didn't mean it" well settle for the giro.

At least Frank hasn't competed during his backdated ban.[
Neither had Contador at this stage

Ah, yr, when the Spanish Federation bought his contaminated meat story.

Anyway one possible reason for the differed lengths in their bans is that Xipamide is classed as a Masking agent and Clen as an anabolic steroid.

Contador, at least had a receipt of the meat bought and an explanation for how the clenbuterol entered his body. Even if the probability of it happening was low.

What explanation does Frank Schleck have?

It's Big Bro Frank not Andy. But I'm sure Frank shared :D:D

Last I heard he claimed he was 'poisoned'.

You mean Frank.
Nothing. Which is why I have stated that he is very lucky and Contador should be a grieved man.

I don't know what this means but I guess it is meant to be offensive. But I will not report your post because I understand this must be a difficult moment for you
yes, but i did and nothing was done... he must have friends in high places like the Schleck boys :p

I think he's overjoyed that his man, Schleck can tool around France without Bromance.

You think this won't devastate the already Mentally Fragile Andy? His belly may be filled with anger but he never channels that onto the road that I've seen. He'll probably go to a bar instead of training.

I agree with you, but I bet Airstream thinks differently.:p

He must be thinking that Andy can get rid of his shackles.

If you believe the "Steak that travelled the world" fairytale you are beyond help. Or a small child. "I have no frickin clue" is a better story than "aaah give me a second to see whatever I can pull out of my @nus" in my opinion

Official statement by Christian to follow later (maybe tomorrow)

 it didn't travel the world it was brought from Irun to Pau by a friend of Alberto. I haven't got a clue what you're going on about.

By the way what do you think of the "I was poisoned!"-excuse :D :D

I read pretty much the whole thing, wow what a snoozefest, same stuff repeated ad nauseam and basically...well the sanction is laughable, ALAD says they can't see a reason to not give him two years since he :

A. could not prove how it entered his body (a prerequisite for a reduced sanction)
B. could not prove that it didn't help directly/indirectly (masking) his performance, he only argues that there are better diuretics around and that it can't mask properly doping products like EPO or steroids (for which he didn't test positive), so he would have been stupid to use it...right, that's how cheaters get caught, doing stupid things!

...but somehow at the end of the day say the length of the ban is open to interpretation.

The ONLY leg they have to stand on compared to the Contador judgement is that unlike Clenbuterol, Xipamide is not a direct performance enhancer...however is IS on the banned list so I can't see TAS not giving him two years if WADA appeal, if only because of his Fuentes connection.

It was supposedly bought there but before it had been counterfeited from South America because in 10 years and 10.000 samples not one had clenbuterol in the EU
