Fränk Schleck: "I have a good feeling"

The disciplinary hearing of Fränk Schleck with the Luxembourg Anti-Doping Agency (ALAD) lasted almost three hours. Shortly before 21:00, the 32 year old presented himself seeingly relieved and optimistic in front of the waiting members of the press.

"First of all, I would like to thank the ALAD. They gave my witnesses (sic) the opportunity to make their statement. We turned in our extensive dossier last week, and now we leave the responsible courts the appropriate time to reach a verdict. I am very satisfied and have a good feeling, too. We invested a lot of time and energy in the preparation of our defense. I have full confidence that after all our explanations and statements, the disciplinary committee will reach the right decision," he said in the presence of his lawyer Albert Rodesch.

When it will be known if and for how long Fränk Schleck will be banned, is written in the stars. "One should leave the ALAD the appropriate amount of time. It is difficult to say when we can expect a verdict," said Schleck on Monday night.

Maxime Monfort: "Help a friend"

As a witness for the native of Mondorf, Maxime Monfort had presented himself in the Maison des Sports. "I am here to help a friend and to tell the truth," said the Belgian.

A "pharmaceutical expert" contributed to the elaboration of the defense's dossier.

It is said that the matter should move forward quickly.

During his "break", Fränk Schleck kept training, but fell and broke a finger.

A lot of time and energy.

Time = money.

Dear Wiggo = cynic.

Thanks for the updates, however. This is a very interesting time to be defending yourself in a doping case. I hope the decision does not take too long...

His good feeling gives me an awful bad one. "The right decison" is a far cry from something like 'vindicate,' or even 'exonerate.' And the AND of Monfort distinguishing truth telling from friendship is like a shot to the gut.

Unless he has total proof of how the xipamide got into his body then he'll be banned no matter what he or Monfort said.

Whether the Luxembourg federation will do it or whether it'll be taken to CAS after they hand down some flimsy sentence is another matter.

It'll make me so mad if he gets an unappealed 6 months for this.

I wonder how Monfort's testimony could be relevant? Someone knocked on their door and stabbed Schleck with a xipamide syringe?

The most ridiculous statement came from Andy stating that since xipamide is not for doping Frank must be found innocent.
Those two guys are a riot. Did they even get out of 6th grade?

Some interesting extracts from the ALAD's official statement (french original here) about how the hearing went:

"The international cycling union (UCI) decided to get directly involved in the procedure and was therefore represented by the lawyer Dominique Leroux from its legal department"

"Fränk Schleck was assisted by his lawyers Albert Rodesch and the Suisse Antonio Rigozzi" (I did not know Rigozzi before, but he seems affiliated with WADA, his CV can be found on their website).

"The rider Maxime Monfort was heard as a moral witness, of sorts"

"As an expert for the defense, Dr. Laurent Rivier, a scientific consultant from established in Lausanne, detailed the contents of his written report".

So you guys think Frank will get off easy on this one?

The book has gotten way too heavy now, he better have a smoking gun or he's out for two minimum.

That's pretty funny.
Old pappy Johnny should have told them "don't do the crime if you can't do the time"

Good advice from daddy. It's too risky now. With so many riders confessed to doping, even with the active riders, the controls will get tighter. Fränk got caught and it's just a matter of time for Andy.

Better quit now than being completely tainted later when Andy gets caught too.

I guess johnny is expecting more problems for the Schlecks Bros with Bruyneel.

I think Frank is caught up in Armstrong backlash. Its gonna be two years. No way is UCI going to let anything that even has the faintest scent of doping off the hook.

thanks!

thanks! for confirmation...........i did not think that there had been news

i agree........frank's heading for a ban.....won't be joining andy down under

but how long? frank was putting on a brave face 'sounding optimistic'

he will be luck to get away with 6 months
