Correct me if I am wrong.

Assuming he was going at/close to his Lactate threshold (so 1 hour sustainable power) wouldn't his HR be at~85-90% of his maximum ? (156/169 = 92% of max, showing 169 probably isn't a real max, but probably not too far off)

There really isn't that much room to move up, especially part way through a 3 week race..
A 6 bpm increase is about a 3-4% increase (based on the max of 169 from the 2011 Vuelta data), pushing his HR into the 90-95% zone for a VO2max level interval/attack.

Something like a 10 bpm increase in my heart rate is the difference between a good LT pace, and OMG I'm dying make it stop sort of pace..

Add in suppressed HR responses due to fatigue and it looks like a pretty standard HR response to effort to me.

maybe he got it from grappe? I don't know.

I still don't understand what Vayer has to gain from faking this thing.

If it's fake then Dawg can just go ahead and show us the real thing, and Vayer would be forever relegated to the realm of pseudo-science. That seems like a big hit for Froomes biggest public hater.

I'm not suggesting Vayer faked it, but we have no idea who gave it to him It's very unlikely to be Grappe and I think he might have been too trusting.

We know Dawg is not going to release real power files to the general public.

Vayer being his loudest critic would not be a negative for Froome judging by how sloppy he seems.

The easiest way to fabricate the data would be if you had the real data for that climb from someone else and then apply a Froome Fudge Factor. Vayer posting it as the real data would indeed leave him open to ridicule if it's not, but I don't see how he could have possibly gotten his hands on Froome's data. Surely Sky Science is hidden in some super max security vault.

how are those crazy attacks possible if he is riding close to max HR?

Doesn't even have to be him faking it himself.
It's not more work than someone might bother doing it for a laugh.

That heart rate is outrageous. For example in Ironman perfect heart rate is 155 bpm. For a nine hour effort. Not sprinting up a mountain.

apparently the Dawg got hacked! the data is real then

Well, actually we have done something about it ... we think someone has hacked into our training data and got Chris’s files, so we’ve got some legal guys on the case there.”

Brailsford declined to say who he believed to be behind the hacking, but he did say that “ethically and morally, if you are going to accuse someone of doping then don’t cheat [steal]”.

Yes, and the logical thing to do when doping with motors is of course having the SRM file just, you know, lay around to get taken to festinaboy by some 'good samaritan' a couple years down the road.

Ooh, I'll play! Assuming the data is real, maybe the reason Sky don't release the data from races and it has to be leaked by a "good samaritan" is because the data is full of anomalies like the Ventoux attack.

It seems kind of odd that a team with such a self-proclaimed focus on transparency won't release any race data, whether it's blood values or SRM files, despite a swarm of journalists, sports scientists and ex-pros asking them for it.

This much we already know. Just weird they would keep it just like that.

Seems like they are confirming it's real now. Multiple sources are quoting him.

Froome's computer getting hacked? Ha ha ha. Poetic justice.

Hope it was Mr Mwangi getting revenge.

I love it. Sky are scared now.

I really hope someone is sitting on more power files.

Sub-31 Madone pls

On a more serious note, this is going to spread like wildfire amongst people who can analyze the data properly. A question for those with more know-how in the field than I have myself: Worst case scenario for Sky, how serious could this get?

Hearing Merckx Index and ScienceIsCool's opinion on the data would be very interesing.
