Millar
Rasmussen
Zabriskie
Vande Velde
Danielson
Is there a TdF selection thread in the clinic?
That would be even more opportunistic. 'We don't wanna ruin him, we just need him for the TTT.'Ruudz0r said:I hear rumours now that Dennis will only ride untill restday 1. I hope that aint true then they can better take someone else.

What is the best Garmin can hope for? I think one of Martin, Hesjedal or Talansky could be top 10. Yellow and and controlling a day seems far fetched, so stage hunters and TTT after that?
There are loads of options, but none really jump out. Even with the strongest Team going can they win the TTT? Then start looking at potential breaks and stage winners, or give some of the younger guys a taste.
Personally I'd probably go for Farrar, Hunter, Navadauskas, Millar, van summeren, and danielson.
Anderis said:Stage hunters? Apart Dan Martin, who would be their realistic chance to win a stage? Farrar doesn't seem to be able to threat the very best sprinters recently. Navardauskas is young and it's hard to expect him to repeat his strong Giro in France. Millar... is he in good enough shape? He seems to be past his prime anyway. There are no other riders in Garmin who are proven to be capable of breakaway win in TdF, not even mention a sprint or attack from main group on last kilometers. Who else could be a good bet? I can't see, really.
Afrank said:Anyone at Garmin could win a stage if they pick the right breakaway. Navardauskas is a beast of a rider, and even tired from the Giro it wouldn't surprise me at all to see him take a stage win from a break. Millar's form I think is pretty good at the moment. he was 3rd at the British RR, which may not have too big a level of competition but it was still a good performance. Plus he has just as good a chance as any of taking a win from a breakaway like he did last year.
I'd say their best bet for a stage win though would be Martin. He was 8th overall at Suisse, so he's coming into good form. And he has all the attributes to make him a good bet to win a stage.
Ruudz0r said:Martin suffered big time from allergies in Suisse, he had a lot of trouble breathing during some of the stages. Im really looking forward to his performances in this years Tour.
Talansky was very good in the last stage of the dauphine after comming back from sickness.
Hesjedal looked really promising in the Giro untill he got sick, hopefully he can take the same form to the Tour.
So 3 very strong leaders backed by some very strong guys could be fun!
I'm not an allergy person, but I read that pollen levels are currently the highest they've been this year, so I doubt now is a great time for Dan Martin to deliver results.Ruudz0r said:Martin suffered big time from allergies in Suisse, he had a lot of trouble breathing during some of the stages. He got lucky with the postponed spring though, in LBL, so I guess he'll be okay with it.
I was mad they overlooked Martin that year but Navardauskas was an absolute beast in the first week, pulling the peloton with Zabriskie for zillion km to defend Hushovd's jersey.roundabout said:Navardauskas. 2011.
