It might have been very different if there was a strong wind.

Yeh a gamble which hasn't exactly paid off... We're left with a 170km circuit race now as the peloton are treating it like a Tour stage.

I think they are only licensed to broadcast a delayed feed.

Ah, that sucks.

If you're in the uk go to the bbc website and there is live coverage there

Yeah I was already watching. Just don't like the commentators much. And now it has just been interrupted by rugby news!?

Whenever I switch to the race tab the producer is fellating an Aussie rider happily hanging around in the bunch.

Really? :D Now that has given me an image I'd perhaps rather not have.

This massive gap means the peloton are going to have to go hard from very early, probably before the circuits to avoid being lapped. Could make for a hard race despite a quiet first 60kms.

So it's 23' or so between the leaders and the peloton? Liggett & Sherwen said that's approx 14 km, I think.

I was going to say it doesn't matter since they would have taken the circuit just as easy at first, but those 5 or 6 extra climbs they won't be doing might have hurt.
(I'm only counting the big one)

Gotta say this is by far the nicest day we have had weather-wise for a few months. Nice for the cyclists, pity for us it wasn't blowing a gale.
